Gooch suffers from playing his least favourite opponent a disproportionate amount of times. He was good against everyone else including WI. Greenidge more consistent than Gooch across his career and great record in lateral movement conditions but wasn’t as good against high pace, record against Australia and Pakistan is on the dodgy side. He averages low-30s against Pak but played them 15% of the time. Gooch averages slightly more against Australia but because he played them a whopping 37% of the time, his least favourite opponent affects his average a lot more. Think it’s close and big fan of both either way. Would have to say I prefer watching Gordon.
