Dark times when KL is your best of a bad lot. Fine batsman when he puts his mind to it but he's very much in the here today gone tomorrow boat too.

Depending on how Pant shapes up over the next year, health and form-wise, he's likely the long-term choice. Punt on Pant and appoint a youngster with a reasonably assured future i.e. Jaiswal as his deputy.

I'll be honest, you guys cry way too much about captaincy and who gets it vs what the team should be like on field. Incredibly bizarre behaviour.

Don't worry. Australia probably claims NZ's 2021 series win in England as a win for themselves.

Gill has to show some discipline mentally in terms of which balls he plays and which shots he plays etc. But I think he has been a rather decent to good captain at least based on IPL evidence.

I am not writing this team out here. I think India were too arrogant and got smashed by NZ as a result at home, and then panicked in Australia. Looks like they have reconsidered a lot since then and are at least going in with some sort of a plan. Lets see how it works out before calling it doomsday.

Say what you want about Gill but that was a captain’s knock yesterday. Shelved his natural game for a large part of it

Haha.. that was meant to read "I am not writing this team off here". Just realized it had autocorrected back when I posted it.
