Gill and Co. Challenges

It's been a while since so mediocre a cricketer has been picked to lead a top tier test side. Tim Paine springs to mind, but at least he could competently execute his primary skill. Gill cannot. Even if he translates into someone who improves their average as captain, he would probably get to averaging, what? 35?

Just an appalling appointment.

Well there is a recent example of a fella averaging under 35 who has got his runs at 58 since becoming captain and tomorrow leads his team out in the WTC Final.....

Sometimes these appointments can bring out the best in players.

Gill has already won in Australia and was a key architect of the Gabba win which @Burgey is still salty about.

If he wins in England, will have done something no Australian team has done in 24 years (26 by next Ashes in England).
