Each received 9 votes in the 100 All-Time World XIs published in 2010. In each case eight were from contemporaries. (Non-contemporaries Boycott and Walters picked Weekes and Harvey respectively.)

Both players made the teams of Davidson, Graveney and Walcott. Weekes was also selected by Bedser, Griffith, Gupte, Ramadhin and Bert Sutcliffe. Harvey was chosen by Adcock, Appleyard, Tyson, Umrigar and Waite.

Weekes may have been slightly more highly regarded at the time.

You deliberately miss the entire part of that argument, though no surprise there.

No one rates Gilly ahead of Punter, but a lot of points are deducted for Ponting for era and attacks faced, while Gully's is taken on face value to the point where some misguided souls see him as being in a tier if his own.

You deliberately try to misrepresent the argument.

No one compares him to Ponting.
