English Domestic Season 2025

Yeoman

State 12th Man
Didn’t expect to see Sussex win at 200-7, but Kent are seemingly even worse.
Their bowling attack was light on seamers. It was not a good match for spinners.

it was my first visit to Arundel for 20 years and it is still a lovely venue. It was also packed, the chairs were 20 rows deep on the rise in the NE corner. While the Cup may not get much media attention it is working as a live event, at least in some places.

It's a lovely ground isn't it? I actually played there a couple of times in my youth (to no great success). Shame I never got the chance to watch any of it.

You say it was no great match for spinners, but I guess Carson and Lenham will leave with happy memories!

Such a great ground, and it was packed. Pity that the organisation is so crap, from car park delays to the queue-for-an hour bars, the invisible scoreboards, inaccurate scorecards and inaudible PA. Bah humbug!

Anyway it turned into a great match in the end. The Lenham/Carson stand was amazing and they won the match from absolutely nowhere.

I was impressed with Cohen who opened the bowling for Kent, he bowled fast and well.

Cohen spent the last two years injured so good he's finally back.

I look away for a short while and Somerset collapse, Arav Shetty, debutant off-spinner has taken 3 quick wickets, another debutant, 16 year old Luke Hands has also impressed with a snorter to dismiss the man (or boy rather!) of the moment Thomas Rew. According to the stream he's averaging about 80mph, which in isolation seems pretty quick for a player of that age, even more so when you consider county stream speed guns are that bit slower than international broadcasts

Kent with probably the worst stream i've ever seen from a sporting event @kevinw. My towns club has a better setup!

Sure the ones at Canterbury have been very good in the past. But clearly not bothered to pack any kit for the Beckenham games!

Gone off constantly, camera on a tilt and weirdly not in focus or right aspect. Commentary sounds like it's in a tunnel and buffering and jumping around too.

Luke Hands has not even played for Lancashire seconds - ever .... despite coming up through their age group sides.

Now all counties have played a game I think there have been 18 List A debuts this season so far.
Nine: Basra, Haydon, Hawkins (Derby), Rivzi (Kent), Roberts (Somerset), Pocklington (Notts), Gorantla (Surrey), Neal (Hamts), Sharma (Northants) have played National Counties cricket. Counties academies being the more normal route: (French, Hands, Shetty, Mayes, Lumsden, Seecharan, Ahmed, Feldman, Mohammed).

Gloucestershire survive an Alex Green (currently the comp’s leading wicket-taker) inspired wobble to beat Leicestershire by 3 wickets in the penultimate over

Charlie Bennett debuted for Essex against Notts in the first round. https://www.espncricinfo.com/cricketers/charlie-bennett-1441886

Came through the Academy route: https://essexcricket.org.uk/2025/06/27/charlie-bennett-signs-rookie-deal-for-essex/
