Not far to rise considering that you lead the pack by 15 points.

West Indies have won 2 straight though...

England V Pakistan, 3rd Test

The match was supposed to be an important one for England to maintain top spot.

Openers Saeed Anwar and T. Umar were applauded when they went out to the wicket, and courteously greeted when they returned, not long after. In fact, none of the top order stayed for long, as the first 5 wickets skittled for 27.

The same could be said for the lower order, too, apart from Wasim Akram. Wasim played an untypical block, and stayed for 59 balls. He scored 11 runs. Pakistan were bowled out for 71, and consumed 41.5 overs. Lohmann led the bowling, with 5 for 14 off 12 overs.

So, not a hard target for England to get a huge first innings lead, which they duly got thanks to a 240 opening stand from Sutcliffe and Paynter. Sutcliffe 111 and Paynter 109. Both were dismissed by Akram, having a stormer considering some of his team mates performances.

However, the rest of the team got starts, but gave them away for 20 or 30, and wickets fell staedily until England were dismissed for 427. Yet again, Wasim was the absolute star with 4 for 127. Interestingly, Sajjad bowled 57 overs, for just 62 runs.

Pakistan fared better in the second dig, but still not enough. Umar batted for 149 balls, and staued there, but didn't score many runs. 46, in total. Apart from him, Youhana, Imran Khan, and Akram, having an absolute stormer judging by the whole team's performance, no-one stayed there. Pakistan were all out for 176, Bates doing the trick with his offies, with 4 for 33 from 20.

To sum, up Pakistan were outplayed, losing by an Innings and 180 runs.

Time for SM quotas?
They're certainly having a definitely dubious impact!

May be worth looking into some sort of correcting the formula for future seasons...

You guys will have to wait a bit for Season 2 unless...

1/ Someone volanteers to run/update the website.
2/ The league is run on the forum ala the Dev League.

... because I find that having to update the website so regularly is really tolling on my schedule.

Also, Season 2, when it comes, will likely be ODIs.

England V West Indies, 1st Test

This series is going to be a big clash of the titans, 1st against 2nd.

The West Indies won the toss and elected to bat, but were soon in trouble. Greenidge got out to Lohmann for 5 off as many balls. Then Headley got out soon after, to make it 18/2. However, Viv Richards stayed in for an age, scoring 45 off 174 balls. He was now supported by Sobers, who stayed in for 68 balls, and they put some kind of partenership together. But Sobers was out with the score on 48 for 13, 48 for 3. Weekes failed to make double figures, and the score was soon 70/4.

Enter Lara, and the best innings of the West Indian innings. It was defensive, considering it was Lara, but it was needed. Him, Richards and Walcott helped inch the score up, until the tail fell quickly, and the Windies were out for 195, Lara making 65.

Come the England innings, and they were soon 4/3. Sutcliffe, Barrington and Paynter all failed. Hammond fell soon after for 10, and England were 28/4. Que 3 good innings, from Hutton, Hobbs and Stewart. All were slow, but needed. They got the score up to 139/7, but the tail fell quickly for just 1 more run.

The West Indies needed some quick runs to avoid a draw, but they instead scored at under 2.5 runs per over, due mainly to some very good bowling by England. Greenidge top scored with 57 off 107 deliveries, the only remotely dashing innings. Headley got 45 off 184 deliveries. They declered on 199 for 5, to leave themselves with 24 overs to bowl England out. They took 1 wicket, and rued the fact that they hadn't scored quicker.

To sum up, England draw wuth the West Indies.
