England in Australia (Tests & ODI's) Discussion

Well im looking forward to this series, It really looks set to be a cracker...

England will be looking to get revenge for the thumping they got in the Super Six stage of the World Cup, whilst the Aussies will be looking to impress their home fans in their 1st ever series...

The Tests will be very enthrawling with both sides looking very strong....

im confident of a good showing, the boys have looked great in the world cup and our test squad is very strong, id be disapointing if Aus didnt win these series...

I'm tipping the Aussies to win this one. They have lived up to their lofty expectations so far in the world cup remaining undefeated. They have a massive pschological advantage I feel over the poms and really should treat the home fans to some good cricket.

Come on Aussie

Should be a cracking series. Since getting thumped by Australia we've managed to score 300 + in the next two matches and win by over 100 runs both times so I wouldn't count England out from the ODI series just yet. Will certainly be close. As for the tests I'm hoping our squad can perform well and challenge Australia but they have an excellent test squad and will be a challenge. Looking forward to the challenge ahead.

England won't be giving any walk overs in this ashes series thats for sure, side been submitted. To put it into perspective just to add some drama to the series the plane flight out of India was delayed so the team arrived in Perth later than anticipated. :p

The Battle of the WCC Ashes was the most anticipated Test Series in this years Calender. Australia coming off a great World Cup win, whilst England put in a great effort before falling to South Africa in the Semis..

Expectations were high and with a packed house at the WACA the scene was set for the start of what is expected to be the battle of all battles..

England Won the toss and decided to bat 1st, however im sure after the 1st few overs they would have been wishing they didn't.. They were dismantled by an agressive and clinical Aussie attack, Dismissed for a embarrasing 119, The innings lasting just 28 overs..

The last thing Australia would have been expecting after losing the toss would have been batting in the 2nd session of the test..
Although they had a tough time of it as well the Aussie batsman found a way to dig in, and in a good team effort the top 9 Aussie batsman all scored double figures, with the only dissapointment being nobody went on with the job.. Australia were dismissed for 290 and England were still in with a chance..

If England thought that there 1st Innings effort was poor, then they were in for a shock.. The name of the shock... Quinten Moore... The New South Welshman ripped England to shreds. In a awesome spell of Fast bowling Moore showed why he is widely regarded as the number 1 pacemen in WCC with figures of 8 for 51 to go with his 1st innings effort of 5 for 54 to send England packing..
England All out for 102, The test match all over inside 2 days...

Australian Managers Brendon Goff and Simon Fitzsimmons are very happy with their sides victory over England to go 1 up in the Ashes... They were slightly concerned that none of the batsman went on to make a big score, but the bowling was awesome.. Quinten Moore although outstanding will be questioned as to why he was so greedy in taking so many wickets and not allowing his fellow bolwers to get a crack...

Im left confused and puzzled over our difficulty to score runs. Guess it's time to move onto the next test and try and take it to the 3rd test.

look at the scores from WA's matches this year, mainly low scoring on their ground, im expecting the last 2 tests to have a few more runs...

Embarrassed in the 1st Test, Englands Ashes hopes were on the line as they looked to not only restore some pride, but keep the much hyped series alive..
The MCG was the scene, and a full house greeted the players..

Code:
Australia England

H Midlane B Allen *
C Donald E Drake
J Smith * P Boxall
R Ponting D Howarth
F Platt U Wilmott
D Hussey J Crawley +
L Ronchi + S Pollard
O Snow Y Mongia
H Jenkins B Collyer
Q Moore B Gregson
S Harwood D Prasad

England won the toss and elected to bat, however again the English lacked the application as they were found out once again by the Aussie bowlers..
Owen Snow and Shane Harwood this time taking the limelight with 9 wickets as England again failed to reach 200. A 51* from Pollard the only sign of resistance..

The Aussies again looked much more confident then the Englishmen, and although once again all the top order got starts Smith went on to pass the half century mark before being dismissed for 64..
The Aussies bowled out for 244, giving England a sniff if they could put some runs on the board..

Again though it was more of the same from England...
This time plenty of starts but lack of application to make the big innings as Quinten Moore again resumed his torment taking 5-27 from 12 overs, England All out again for under 200, 184...

The Aussies requiring 95 to win were never troubled, only losing Donald for 17 on the way to securing the 1st ever WCC Ashes...
We now move to the 3rd Test where England will be looking to at least fight for some respect...

Midlane and Smith batted reasonably, but its still an issue, another great performance from the bowlers, this is most likely the best bowling line up ever put together in WCC and they are doing the job...
perhaps a change or two is in order for the 3rd test...
