England begging for a draw, Manchester, 27th July 2025

To whoever said about me not taking it in good humour etc. And to the worm who gave me a waaaah. I take no umbrage with any of it really but the memes aren’t funny and the attempts to tie this to Ben Stokes loving draws now are illogical drivel. That’s all.

It’ll all be forgotten when we win at The Oval anyway

no one's said that tho

we are just saying englund are a bunch of toddlers throwing out their toys because their crying didn't get them what they wanted
Loads of people said it, you were probably too busy desperately trying to get Spark to feud with you to notice

I’ve long been an admirer of Bazball as a concept because I like how it started off being centred around maximising your strengths to give yourself the best chance to win a game. This England team would not be as successful if they didn’t play this way.

Just saw a video of what was said and Crawley telling Jadeja and Sundar that they are going to bowl bouncers at them was really cringy. Was that a threat? I don’t even know. I admire Ben Stokes as a cricketer and the game will miss something when he retires but he really can come across badly sometimes. What are you doing as a team to get every other nation cheering you on to lose?

i am one of those fans in the UK who finds the current england set up mostly tiresome but what has stokes ever said publicly to warrant stuff like 'presenting himself as the white knight here to save test cricket'?
I'll be honest and admit I don't have the quotes, or a photographic memory of what Stokes has specifically said, but I feel like it's a pretty common feeling that Stokes and his merry men have often presented themselves as the arbitrators of what is good and not so good Test cricket in recent years.

I thought what he'd done on the field yesterday was over the top, then I watched his press conference. With time to breathe, he still went in there and decided he could be the one who writes the scripts on what made Jadeja and Sundar's innings' meaningful. I could only laugh as he decided for himself whether there could be satisfaction in two guys scoring hundreds, including one guy's maiden ton.

Then KP inevitably comes out and tells us we can't criticise it, because we've never played Test cricket.

If Stokes had a 25-year-old all-rounder nearing his maiden ton, having worked that hard for it, and pulled the pin in the final hour on him on 80-90, there would be a justifiable stink about it. And he wouldn't do it.

England doing the incredible here and making me want to support Australia this summer

Oddly, Stokes seemed the one most offended by the fact Brook was bowling.
One Test wicket - Kane Williamson. But yeah, that was more Stokes cringe, suggesting the achievement of making a Test hundred is lessened because he brings on part-timers when nearing that milestone. Stokes had every right to bring those guys on, given the workload for the bowlers. But from that point on, some seriously immature stuff went on

It's Mabo. It's the vibe.

Seriously though, genuinely good question here in that I can't for the life of me remember whether the 'saving test cricket' meme had it's origin in the England camp itself or in the English media strumming themselves off during the first 12 months of Bazball - and, if it was the later, how much Stokes and co leaned into that.

This came later, but yeah - claiming credit for the way Jaiswal bats is certainly part of the vibe.

I reckon Stokes was pissed off because he’d injured himself again and fancied/needed an ice bath. Everything else I’ll put down to the malign influence of McCullum.

I haven’t watched any of it by the way so my opinion is just my usual biased ramblings. Sounds like Crawley and Duckett are the particular pillocks in this case. I thought Brook was a decent dibbly bowler like a Gooch or Butcher so why not just get him to bowl normally or get Crawley to bowl some Bobby Vance style declaration **** if you’re really bored of it all.
