Perfect batting conditions, the breeze will nullify any swing. Not confident at all unfortunately. Going to be two very difficult to take defeats at home this season.
Ironically during the whole of the lunch break it clouded over but as soon as the umpires came back out then the sun reappeared. However that doesn't excuse Durham from going from a position of leading by 148 runs around midday yesterday with one Somerset wicket to take to losing by seven wickets four sessions later.

A really poor performance from Durham in this game.

The signing of Rhodes looks increasingly bizarre, especially when we look so light in the bowling department.
We signed Rhodes and Gay because Lees had made his mind up to leave at the end of last season. The second signing was to replace Clark who was going to drop into the 2nd XI.

However Lees did a U-turn when the other players has already signed, and Clark kept his place and ihas been scoring loads of runs.

I’m gutted, even more so than the Warwickshire defeat - which I thought would hurt for the entire season.

I have genuine concerns that we could go down, because the second half of our campaign appears to be much much tougher on the face of it. When our bowlers are dropping at the rate that they are, we could have 4 loanees lining up for the games at the end of the season.

I've heard Sam Conners is injured again.

Hes been worth the money...not.
That members meeting back in November when the fixtures were released seems like a hundred years ago with North telling us that in the first block of Championship games we could look forward to Stokes, Wood, Boland, Potts, Raine, Conners, De Leede, Coughlin and Hogg all featuring.

Mark Wood told the TMS podcast last week that he’s targeting playing Championship cricket for Durham in July. I laughed out loud when I heard him say it. There’s more chance that I’ll be playing.

Just seen on BBC website we've signed Somerset all-rounder Kasey Aldridge on an 8 game loan spell for the T20 Blast.

This is getting ridiculous now. I know we have injuries but surely it would have been better bringing in someone from the 2nd XI.

Not if they aren’t ready 🤷‍♂️

I know this discussion has been done before, but the club need to win games and that is especially true of a format where we’ve been perennial strugglers. Take Hogg for example, he’s got bags of potential and is highly rated by so many pundits but he was a liability when he came into the side against Somerset. In a game with a small target, he couldn’t be trusted to bowl and our attack became a 3-man pace attack as a result.

I know some people don’t like loans, but let’s not forget that our three ‘premier’ all-rounders are all on England duty. I don’t mind this signing at all, he’s another player that is highly rated and who knows, it may even open a door in the long run should Somerset look to other players as their pick for all-rounder.

Yes, I’d rather we didn’t have to rely on loanees, but with our England call-ups and injury list, it’s become necessary.

Matthew Potts has been selected to play in England's second ODI against West Indies tomorrow, replacing the injured Jamie Overton

Defeat against Lancs tonight but at least we took it to the final ball. We threw it away though after such a good start.
