WA are safe

WA - 1656 runs in 340 overs = 4.871 (for)
1609 runs in 344 overs = 4.677 (against)
WA's NRR = 0.194

So far:
WA - 0.194
Lancs - 0.213
NSW - 0.102

Now doing Mumbai's seeing they also finished on 8 points.

Mumbai - 1966 runs in 350 overs = 5.617 (for)
1579 runs in 334 overs = 4.728 (against)
Mumbai's NRR = 0.889

So the final placings in Division 1 according to my calculations are:
QLD
SA
Mumbai (NRR - 0.899)
Lancs (NRR - 0.213)
WA (NRR - 0.194)
NSW (NRR - 0.102)
Yorks
TN

Obviously I'm relieved as I followed the NRR rules to the letter and double checked all of my calculations.
I look forward to having this confirmed by Rich and Marc tomorrow.

1/ I'll like Marc to confirm we are correct in the 0.15/0.15

Send me the cards for both teams through the season (lost them when my Outlook crashed)

I'll put them through my sheet.

As WCC doesn't have any stated rules covering the eventuality of tied points and run rates, I think it would be unfair to make one up for this situation at this point.
If the run rates are still equal after everything has been rechecked, a playoff is the only way to go.
As there was no stated rules before the season then we can't just make one up - the chances of this happening are so small that the WCC can't be blamed for not being abole to sort out this problem position!

I'm guessing you haven't counted all games where the team is all out early correctly Graham.

My calculations give:

MUM 0.890 (1966 in 350 vs. 1579 in 334)
LAN 0.212 (1240 in 288 vs. 1404 in 343)
WA 0.193 (1656 in 340 vs. 1609 in 344)
NSW 0.102 (1569 in 315 vs. 1571 in 322)

Either way they come up with the same calculation.

Incidentally had we done it on count back, Lancs would've gone down, and on the much vaunted bonus points system (which incidentally the ICC have scrapped for the WC which must tell you something) NSW would've gone down.

Well it appears that VC4, Marc and Graham all came to the same answer (VC4 just 1 decimal place less).

So it appears there will be no need for a sudden death play-off as NSW will go down on a lesser NRR, there was a good comment by someone about why the NRR wouldn't have changed a great deal in that game due to both teams scoring simalar runs and batting the same amount of overs.

Sorry Bug's but Div 2 isn't that bad, and iam sure your be safe in the FD verision of the game... Or are you??????

Congrats to Graham... and I'll be seeing you next season :D

I think your back me up in saying it couldn't have been much closer if you guys tried, and certianly made an exciting climax to the season, with the Kent v Surrey game in there as well.

Well Done to all managers and good luck next week in the FD games

Marc:

My midnight calculations on Mumbai and WA were flawed. On rechecking this morning, all my calculations concur fully with yours and VCM4 got them all 100% correct. I've amended my previous posts so that they now read correctly.

Lancs actually finished 4th meaning that two English teams will be flying the flag in Division 1 OD next season.

Rich:

Thanks for the congratulations. Mind you, Lancs will still go down in the FC comp unfortunately.
