Standing up to who? Even if the decision was bad you aren't going to call off the match.
Sunny was 100% justified. If you don’t give it back, they won’t stop. Indian cricketers back then were doormats and Sunny was the first who said NO.

If Arjuna Ranatunga never stood up for Muralitharan, the umpires would have repeatedly called him a chucker to the point, he would have broken down.

If Imran Khan didn’t stand up and say cricket needs neutral umpires, the future generations of Pakistan bowlers would have been viewed with suspicion as well.

Ranatunga and Imran stood on principle.

Gavaskar was just being a hothead because he didn't like the decision and the Indian manager got him to send the other opener back before he reached the boundary.

Miandad behaved like a street rowdy.
Lol Lillee kicked Miandad after blocking him from running between the wickets. He is lucky Miandad didn't thrash him and the Anglo media all blamed Lillee for that.

What happened was needed. The walkout itself would had been an overcry, especially since we actually won the game; but the act of walking out is very welcome from me.

Well, I don't know particularly about this instance, but a street rowdy is one of better ways I would describe Miandad's behaviour. That before going onto his personal life.......

Here is the full incident. Miandad responded like a badass and completely in his rights.

Wahh wahhh I disagreed with my lbw decision I’m going to chuck a tantrum and get the match cancelled.

Imagine if every player was that much of a baby.
Well, it certainly was a big **** you to Australia in Australia, something India never had done before.

That's a pretty low bar to qualify as an act of removing the yoke of colonial inferiority.

Though to be fair if it revved up India to win the test then well done.

Might be a low bar, but there weren't many Instances of India saying **** you to Australia/England before that. Might not be the most called for action, actually was a dick move, but I think it worked.

I just hope you guy also consider the racist and derogatory comments the English team made toward the Pakistani team in 1987 as a heroic act of standing upto biased umpiring.
