Hadlee would play as number 4 in Modern Windies setupWon't say worse, but not really much better either tbh

That's a great point. Maybe I should play him as no.4 in my AT XI?Hadlee would play as number 4 in Modern Windies setup
HorribleIf I may ask, where would 2000's BD would be? Close?
I mean, he unironically would had played in that NZ team as a batsman as well.....Hadlee would play as number 4 in Modern Windies setup
Nevermind. We were doing charity.Horrible
I think they won a 2 test match series against a second string WI team and pretty much lost everything else
He can also play in similar 90s Pak setupHadlee would play as number 4 in Modern Windies setup
I think late 2000s Ban can win some match against 80s and early 90s SL and late 90s ZimIf I may ask, where would 2000's BD would be? Close?
1999-2005 was the peak BD imo.I think late 2000s Ban can win some match against 80s and early 90s SL
2007 Ban won vs Ind and SA.That is their peak in 2000s1999-2005 was the peak BD imo.
Makes me proud![]()
One of the problems I have with bowling averages is they ignore wicket quality. As far as bowling averages Glenn McGrath is the batting equal of Ponting, Larra, SRT etc.Granted, Lillee did middling in WI in WSC but better than Ashwin did anywhere in SENA.
I am fine with all that. One of the problems I have with bowling averages is they ignore wicket quality. As far as bowling averages Glenn McGrath is the batting equal of Ponting, Larra, SRT etc.
In the WSC tour of the West Indies
Using the career Batting averages, this gives -
- Lillee took 23 wickets at 28.39 - only 3 wickets where tail enders
- Pascoe took 14 wickets at 27.92 - 5 wickets where tail enders
Lillee has delivered exactly what his captain Ian Chappell wanted from him - The best opposition batsmen quickly.
- Batting average of the batsmen Lillee dismissed was 36 runs per wicket
- Batting average of the batsmen Pascoe was 24.20
I think bowling averages (particularly at a series level) can be very misleading.
Lillee's stats would be equivalent to 5.5 wickets per test @ 23.5 strike rate of 39 at a normal wicket quality
Good? Yes.I am fine with all that.
To be clear, Lillee did middling in WSC in Wi by ATG standards but perhaps that was underrating it. It was still a solidly good performance.
Sure but compared to Ashwin in SENA, Lillee in WI that series was gold.Good? Yes.
When we are comparing legends, we want them to have great performances.
