Pretty much only player from here who can even make a remote case for an ATG English team are only Botham, Anderson, Root and atmost Bob Willis.... It's really kinda sad considering the two Australian teams would really be close.

Yeah but England's pre 1970 team are giants of cricket , only Australia with Bradman in it could challenge that team.

Really like Stewart opening and Russel keeping, oddly enough England in the 90s didn't. With Underwood not eligible (Would make Snow too, if we're talkingt people debuting before 1970), honesty I would probably just have Greig bowling spin and put Broad or Fraser in and maybe Robin Smith as an extra bat.

I suppose you could go for Miller or Ali, instead of Smith, but it really shows how bleak are spin options other than Sawnneh and Deadly.

Anyway, Thorpe-Gower-Pietersen for me, so I'm putting Thorpe in the first x1

England in the 90s couldn't select their way out of a paper bag so i'm not surprised they got that one wrong

Still think Thorpe maybe the most under-rated England bat of this time, averaged 48 in oz, when they were the undoubted World number 1. Kp and Lord Gower averaged 45, 44 there in a weaker time for oz cricket.

Voted for Gower. He was frustrating as hell back in the day too. If you remember the show, “They think its all over”, from back in the 90s, they used to troll Gower with a montage of him nicking off to the slips with his feet seemingly in cement. However, when he was on it, he was truly wonderful. There wasn’t a lot in it, different eras notwithstanding.

Pietersen was a player of great innings which tightens it, but that's still a big gap.
