CW's Ranking of Opening Batsmen (Tests)

The Sean

Cricketer Of The Year
Ashley mallett chose trumper in his test team of the century as a middle order batsman rather than a opener.
He did indeed, with some justification - noting that his versatility was a key point in his favour and that he could move up to open should that be required.

I enjoyed reading Mallett's team and his reasoning, though it was one of the more home-country-biased sides I've seen - six of his XI were Australian, with a seventh Aussie as 12th man!

HookShot

U19 Vice-Captain
Didn’t realise that Greenidge’s career was such a mixed bag with his series average against England ranging all the way from 20.67 to 81.71.

Still, can’t go past such an iconic attacking batsman….Greenidge
