CW BT Cup 6

Mahindinho

State Vice-Captain
Well, I managed to ease past Got Spin:

Withington Wonderers 252/4 (50)
Perry 83 (106), McGregor 74 (139);
Allen 2-70 (10), Padayachie 1-23 (10)

Got Spin 152/10 (42.4)
McCammon 96 (100);
Gibb 4-17 (6.4), Brooker 2-27 (10)

Looks like Trev knocked Rodgie out -- is that just me, Trev, Scaly and Adam left? No offence Trev, but I know who I'd like to face in the next round!

Hmm, I should make the finals from here, no disrespect to Trev. The other final might be close, with SP having the better batting lineup and the bowling being fairly comparable.

Saw off Rodgie fairly convincingly:

Cymru Gurgitaters 282/5, Greening 130 (134), Jeffery 89 (113), Street 3/59
Pup 94 A/O, Coates 42, Jeffery 5/23

So Greening gets the MOTM!?! Exactly the same thing happened in my league match on Friday, Jeffery turns in 95 and 4/19, and Staveley gets the Champaign for 104?

Will need some Rodgie-inspired giant killing to stand a chance against Adam in the semis, think my only hope is if we chase and Greening has a blinder.

Hitting Sup Seam on Pan for the first time, not that that'll help all that much:-) Though pretty proud of reaching the Semis in my first go at the cup anyway.

Later, Trev

Adam, do you have any preference, in terms of viewing time, whether we play at yours or mine? We'd probably make more money at yours, but I figured that GB time would be a bit more conducive to a Sunday lie-in for you than WI time.

Makes no odds to me, as I'm skippering my RL team on Sunday, so I won't be able to watch our match live wherever it's played. Hmmm, Captaincy, get to open and field at slip all day!

Your place would be better for me. The difference in terms of gate receipts is pretty insignificant.

Mahindinho

State Vice-Captain
Houston, we have a problem.

If I were to beat Scaly on Sunday*, I'll have to either accept or make a challenge for the Grand Final.

* Not very likely, I know -- I'd put myself down as a 5/1 underdog.

The problem, however, is that I'll be in Barbados for the next fortnight, starting on Saturday. While I'll probably be able to make it to a random internet cafe, I'm not going to have much web access.

So, if I do get through, could whoever's playing me in the final please issue a challenge as soon as they can?

Even if I fail, I'd be up for a 3rd/4th place play-off if the other guy fancied it.

That's if I haven't been banned by someone who tells me I'm being extremely rude then hides behind the 'please use proper channels' bollocks when it is him that closed the thread and used that opportunity to get the last word in. All the mail thing says is "Please do not use this mail system for game queries" and I wasn't...

143 for Watkins, and Cymru Gurgitaters need 300 to win. SP lose their last six wickets in as many deliveries leaving Withington needing 231 to win, should be quite close but I expect Scaly's now even stronger bowling attack to prevail.

A legendary collapse...

49.2 W John to Pace
Pace has managed to edge that slider onto his foot, and it loops behind where Fish decides to demonstrate that his football skills are better. He juggles the ball a couple of times with his feet before finally catching it!
49.1 W John to Wheat
Oh my! Wheat has lost his furniture! Clean gone.

End of Over 49: 230-8, runrate=4.69
Gibb 10-1-58-5
Wheat* 89 (104 balls)
Summers 0 (0 balls)

Last Wicket: Callery c. Fish b. Gibb 0 (FOW: 230/8)

48.6 W Gibb to Callery
Edged and out, no question of doubt there. Callery heads back to the pavilion.
48.5 W Gibb to Appleby
Yes, Appleby has just clipped that and it's easy as pie for Fish. He's out!
48.4 W Gibb to Lanewalla
GONE! Magnificent catch on the boundary.
48.3 W Gibb to Patel
It's swung in and taken his off stump! Gibb runs around like a crazy man, and Patel is OUT!

I swear if some nilwitted apologist defends it on sledging I'm going to murder them...

Anyway I'll be surprised if Withington makes it past 100 to be honest.
