Funny you should say that, Mike. I was only just thinking about Randall at the Centenary Test when he was felled by a Dennis Lillee bouncer, only to scramble to his feet, bow and doff his cap.badgerhair said:Dear oh dear, I feel old. First I take my teenage stepkids to Old Trafford and realise that I saw REM do some of those same songs years before they were even born, and now there's a thread about crowd-pleasing characters and no-one has mentioned Derek Randall. It's the end of the world as we know it, but I don't feel fine.
Cheers,
Mike, who has at least got his Orange Crush.
Is that the original line up of Black Sabb then (has one of them died recently..cant remember.(Side one of the first album is one of my all time favourite bits of music)luckyeddie said:Funny you should say that, Mike. Priceless.
On a similar musical note, my son went to Donington Park last weekend to see Black Sabbath - just the 35 years since I first saw them.
The original line-up 1969 ... Ozzy, Tommy Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward (plus Rick Wakeman on keyboards in the studio).Swervy said:Is that the original line up of Black Sabb then (has one of them died recently..cant remember.(Side one of the first album is one of my all time favourite bits of music)
Randall? a musical link..apparently in the late 70's or early 80's...Randall wound the Aussies up by singing 'You Are My Sunshine' outloud when Rodney Hogg was coming into bowl.![]()

2005 lineup.... Ozzy, Tommy Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward (plus Adam Wakeman on keyboards).
He has. He committed suicide when his son David was sacked by Surrey. Strangely, or perhaps not, it hasn't affected his "drumming".Swervy said:oh right..I though Bill Ward had died...my mistake.
