Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

Whatever it takes!!!
It has happened in other sports and perhaps it hasn't happened in cricket as the opportunities are much tighter. There have definitely been games in the past where the use of a runner was somewhat dubious.

Bloodgate is probably the most infamous example I can think of off the top of my head, from rugby union.
Oh I agree it is open to abuse like every other rule. I just dont think that is reason enough to not make the rule in the first place.

If substitutions are allowed, there will likely be creep in it's use. What will happen over time is you may find that it's no longer just about the chosen 11 on the park, it's a squad of 13 players playing an opposing squad of 13 players with chosen subs happening at certain times. We already see it sometimes with substitute fielders etc.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, just a change to the game and the way it will be played. Unfortunately it will likely benefit teams with greater resources to take advantage of the substitution rules. But that is true majority of the time, already

Anyone know who has the highest FC score after being put into bat after losing the toss?

Surrey currently 751/5 at the Oval after Durham inexplicably thought it was a good idea to let them bat first.
