Combined series xi

How is Khawaja (8 & 4) in a combined XI over Rahul (26 & 77)

Same with Smith (0 & 17), Reddy (41 & 38* + bowling) earns a spot over him

Considering their entire career not this series alone😀 smith is atg and khawaja is very good batsmen. Klr is inconsistent and nitish just debuted

As for jaiswal. Macsweeny is yet to prove and dont rate rohit. If warner was playing would have chosen him over jaiswal

Isn't the point of a "combined series XI" thread to track and pick the best performing players in a series?

implying there is some Unwritten Forum Rule that such a thread must be like this and can’t be about picking your preferred all career side made up of players from the teams involved in the tour? respectfully like who made you the Content Cop

Reddy, Labuschagne and Smith all very lucky to be anywhere near this team tbh.

Rahul's been way better than Jaiswal ,who's had only one tremendous knock with little else. Rahul deserves the opening spot atleast so far through three tests.
Match winning century trumps consistent smaller contributions in my book. Jaiswal is the reason India won the first test, which is why he is my number 1 opener pick. Konstas gets the number 2 spot because he's the only one to have not looked like Bumrah's bunny all series.

Rahul is just as important to that victory as Jaiswal was, not least because he was with Jaiswal as they really put the game beyond Australia on that 2nd afternoon.

Plus, his 20-odd in the first session, whilst it didn't look much, was likely the difference between India getting 150 and about half that and the game being effectively dead by tea.

The likelihood that they lose in Brisbane too is also much much higher if he doesn't play his knock.

Yeah that's fair, I still think Rahul would be better at 3 than any of the other choices. In a combined series XI the pickings are a little slim in the batting stakes.
