Kapil's away bowling figures are curious - he averaged 24 in Aus/WI, and 38 overall elsewhere.
Yes, for a swing bowler he was terrible in England and NZ. I remember watching the 1990 NZ v India series and Kapil was hyped up by the commentators a lot. Danny Morrison and Hadlee were good and the rest of the bowlers in the series struggled.

I think it comes down to English and Kiwi bats just being a lot more experienced than the Australian bats when it comes to playing against medium swingers-seamers. His type of bowlers are too common in SEN.

Does it though? Seems a bit strange hypothesis. I think it was more in the lines of him struggling to adjust his length with the condition.

Yeah it does just seem like that to me, his home work against England is terrible too. Though, he did also struggle to do the classic stump to stump bowling in England, I also think it might come down to one or two batsman?

I think the chance of that is pretty slim tbh. Like, I don't think his record was particularly screwed by a single batter, neither do I think the NZ batting was better at facing anything than WI. He actually had quite a few silver linings in England (3 MoTM, 1 MoTS, albeit did better with the bat), NZ is probs just him proving his Class like Sobers, Viv, Bumrah, etc.

His disaster series in England in 1990 and NZ in 1990 are right next to each other, maybe look into 1990 the year.

The 1990 England series was supremely flat pitches and an ATG series by Graham Gooch. The highest Indian wicket taker was Narendra Hirwani with 9 wicketa

NZ was pretty flat too.

the funny part is in the previous tours on England dibble dibble bowlers like Roger Binny and Madan Lal did well.

Kapil did have some amazing innings with the bat in England

Kapil and Imran.

Raised their game with no issues. Hadlee never lowered his game, but Botham was meh, when it was tough.

Over career, can say he made a consistent output. But Botham was able to regularly win a match with the bat at peak, Kapil never was that.
The same goes down for Imran vs Hadlee. Hadlee was more consistent, but Imran produced a lot more impetus performances.

This article ranks Hadlee the third highest-impact player in Test cricket history with only Sobers (1st) and Barnes (2nd) ahead of him. Bradman came 4th (!!!). Imran came 17th. I'm not saying I agree with the article, I'm just putting it out there.
