Currently, Dhoni is by far the better batsman, but McCullum has IMO, more potential to improve due to his natural ability. He reminds me of Shahid Afridi - with a brain (sometimes).

I read that after his innings he threw the gloves to Saha and told him to keep. Either way it has absolutely nothing to do with either of them being a better keeper than McCullum. If someone thinks that McCullum is that bad that a no name Indian domestic player is better, then that person has either never seen him wicketkeep or hates him for no other reason than to hate him.
Did you watch Saha keep though? His got far better footwork then McCullum. Which is McCullum only real weakness behind the stumps, but the same weakness that other keepers such as Sangakarra and Dhoni have as well. Just because you might not know a certain player doesn't mean they are not better in one aspect. As mention before they would have selected another batsmen like Puraja (an India A opener FTR) if Saha wasn't the first choice keeper.

I didn't pick Pujara necessarily as an opener, but if McCullum was planning to keep, Pujara could have batted in the middle order instead of Saha. Pujara did awfully as an opener for India A and I wouldn't put him back there for a long time.

Shahid Afridi is good because hes brainless.

He either gets a golden duck or 120 from 30 deliveries

That article speaks volumes for what I said, so yes, I do love it. :)
In my brain fade I'm trying to think of all the other openers he has to match for that headline to be true. Hayden, Tendulkar and Gayle are definitely better. Gah who else opens?

He's been good lately, still has to prove he's not a one hit wonder but as long as that average keeps going up I'll be happy. Before we look for a Gilchrist or a Gayle or whoever we need a consistent opener first. This summer has been promising but he needs to score in tests and carry on the ODI form.

He's crap even when he is in form.
Afridi can't really have 'form', in the classical sense, because he is so hit and miss. He might string together four or five good innings, but I personally wouldn't consider him in better form than if he had four or five failures on the trot. Sure he's scoring more runs, but it's very debateable as to whether he is in better form.

There is also Yaspal Singh though who is far better middle order batsmen then Saha, if the Pujara has pidged holed as top order batsmen

EDIT: Should be noted Saha keeping again over McCullum. Is he still fatigued?

He isn't a bad keeper at all, even though he messed up an easy runout..

No but who ever picked this team is stupid unless saha is a better batsman than whoever else is in the squad, even if Saha is a better keeper this isn't a test match.

Ganguly seems to rate him as player, probably the major factor here. Also Saha is meant to be a decent hitter as well. McCullum outfielding compared to Yashpal and Pujara also a major factor I guess.

Seems like a smart move to me. McCullum is only playing four games. Better to have one keeper all the way through who can build a relationship with the bowlers, rather than blooding a new guy halfway through the tournament when the pressure is on. McCullum is worth his place in the squad a specialist bat obviously.

Taibu also in the squad, so he could have come in as a straight swap.
