The normal awards that everyone else has
Test Fan Only already has a NZ player so I'll go ahead and pick Martin Donnelly as my final player. All in all not a bad XI. I probably jumped the gun picking O'Keefe early, but having a Malaysian born player at least makes things interesting. The rest is good, a brutal middle order of DeVilliers, Lloyd and Sobers, plus Ames, is the highlight, and could do some serious damage to a tiring attack.

Martin Donnelly
Chris Gayle
Younis Khan
AB DeVilliers
Clive Lloyd
Gary Sobers
Les Ames +

Steve O'Keefe

First Class Debutant
Thilan Samaraweera (Sri Lanka)

- Glenn Turner - New Zealand
- Ravi Shastri - India
- Wally Hammond - UK
- Jacques Kallis - South Africa
- Clyde Walcott - Barbados
- Thilan Samaraweera - Sri Lanka
- Keith Miller - Australia
- Mushfiqur Rahim+ - Bangladesh
- Imran Khan* - Pakistan
- Michael Holding - Jamaica
- Sonny Ramadhin - Trinidad and Tobago

Openers are clearly a bit weak although Shastri did average mid 40s as an opener as well as Turner. Plenty of quality batting with depth with Imran Kham at 9.
Lots of bowling options with Holding, Imran, Miller, Kallis and Hammond to bowl fast, and, Ramadhin and Shastri to bowl spin.

Cheers all; http://www.cricketweb.net/forum/cricket-chat/80006-poll-birthplace-draft.html is now up.

Obviously you could pick a tremendously strong team meeting the requirements - e.g.

Jack Hobbs (UK)
Barry Richards (SA)
Viv Richards (Antigua)
Sachin Tendulkar (India)
Brian Lara (T&T)
Garry Sobers (Barbados)
Adam Gilchrist (Australia)
Imran Khan (Pakistan)
Richard Hadlee (NZ)
Michael Holding (Jamaica)
Muttiah Muralitharan (SL)

but some of the picks had me wondering how strong a team you could be if players born in Test countries were excluded... bending the rules to allow Scotland because I was struggling to come up with decent batsmen:

Archie Jackson (Scotland)
Paul Terry (Germany)
George Headley (Panama)
Ted Dexter (Italy)
Steve Tikolo (Kenya)
Freddie Brown (Peru)
Geraint Jones (PNG)
Bart King (USA)
Phil Edmonds (Zambia)
Steve O'Keefe (Malaysia)
Ole Mortensen (Denmark)
