Compare this to Arjuna Ranatunga, from 18 to 21 years, look at the averages

And Aravinda de Silva 18 to 21 years of age.

These two got far less matches to play when they hit their purple patches in mid to late 80s. Arjuna was good to average 40 while Aravinda was good to average in high 40s.

Happens to a lot of batsmen who debuted at young ages. Martin Crowe started against Lillee and Thomson and really struggled, then in his late career had terrible knee problems - should've finished with av of 50 instead of 45. Likewise, Williamson might've scored a 100 on debut in India but really struggled for 3-4 years and then has averaged about 60 ever since.
