Was in a pretty good position at 270/5 with two batsmen in and some average bowlers on, had hopes of 350-400...unfortunately one of them got out the next over and we collapsed to 285 all out

We now have 3/2 after 3 though, so there's some hope! Should grab another one soon as one of the guys in now is poor and then there's one bat between us and the tail. Would love to roll them for 100...it's unlikely, but would be nice.

EDIT: Well, that turned out better than I thought - Hillside 46 a.o in reply. Would like to pick up a wicket or two tonight though...forgot I ordered the follow on, didn't think it would be necessary against these guys haha

We've all completed our first innings with me and Old Hat picking up 1 batting point.

End of Over 12 (1 runs). ShrimperZone Vets CC: 31-3, runrate=2.58
Trail by 175 runs. (BEST Indies 206-10)
Overs left today: 21
Bashir 6-1-15-1
Westcarr* 7 (12 balls)
Chanderpaul 1 (13 balls)
Last Wicket: Mckie c. Bennie b. Ross 15 (FOW: 24/3)

Is the great escape on?

EDIT 42-4!!!

Well, that was interesting. Expected a tight match and thought I'd have a run chase after my first innings. Turned out the complete opposite. The same team beat me by 7 wickets full strength at the start of the season. Nkosinathi finally played well in an important match scoring 125. And our bowlers shared the wickets around, except for the irrelevant 5th option, who bowled tightly.

And that's the end of the match. Coco's Nuts won by an innings and 143 runs.

End of Over 48 (3 runs). Hillside: 96-10, runrate=2.00 (1st Inn: 46-10)
Trail by 143 runs. (Coco's Nuts 285-10)

Second season of Battrick completed for my team. A brief season summary

FC: 2nd

I was the clear second best team in this league. Used the season to tinker with lineups and tactics. Promotion out of this league will definitely be achievable next season depending on who gets demoted.

OD: 4th

My first season in Div 5 was a relative success. I was given a large beating on a couple of occasions, but more than matched it with most of the human run teams in this league. Had a couple of terrific contests, and my better players really shone through in the tight situations.

T20: 5th

Much like my first class league, did not place a large focus on T20. Rested many of my key players, and largely just played around with aggression settings for the season.

My best player:

Marc Baholo - 18 yo, BT Rating=36,201
LH Batsman, LM Bowler. He is a destructive player with worthless leadership skills and abysmal experience.
He currently has proficient batting form, superb bowling form and energetic fitness.

Stamina: superb Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: abysmal Concentration: strong
Bowling: strong Consistency: strong
Fielding: strong

Will drop him to 1 bowling net next season, and keep him like that well into the future. Terrific bowler to have, his destructive aggression means he can really blow some teams away if given a chance.

Next season will see 1 new trainee added to the mix, a batsman. I will soon be in a position to start buying in better players to pad out my squad. Currently sitting on 1,558K, so nearly reached the the magic 1,600K mark.

Batstats rating has improved. Final game for this season stood at 84, compared to final game for last season of 74. Overall a good season, I set my expectations low at the start of the season. Was always going to be a transitional season whilst I earnt the required money, and waited for some of my trainee's to really come along.

Strongly DWTA. Given that he's your best player and you're starting up, it's best to get one or two guns that you can build your team around. I'd have him on 2 bowling + 1 fielding definitely for all of next season and probably the one after that too tbh.

Dhindsa, Gleeson, or Knowles IMO. Selling Henshaw will only be a short term solution IMO. Get your wages under control, and you may get your team back on track.

Haven't seen you in here for a while, Dauth. Friendly sometime?
Let's do it!

I'm thinking that I'll need to win my Div 3s next season to really make maximum use of Bhutia, Holdsworth and Mulholland (26, 24 and 25 respectively) before they get too old to sell. They're at their peak and I have enough youth coming through so that I don't need to worry about it. Not to mention their wages. Here's that crazy little format we used to do, haven't seen it for a while:

Code:
[b]Player Age BTR Batting Bowling WK[/b]
Shaw 23 87583 exquisite
Whitehouse 21 74376 sensational
Bhutia 26 128152 masterful
Holdsworth 24 221297 exquisite exquisite
Thabo 19 35542 remarkable
Allott 20 52440 strong wonderful
Jahanzeb 18 19987 superb superb
Houlihan 31 3008 competent
Busby 22 92116 worthless exquisite
Appleyard 21 71003 worthless exceptional
Mulholland 25 88831 worthless masterful
Average BTR of 79485 and average age of 22.7. Couple of pops imminent but that's it at the moment. Would probably be more advantageous to have 4-5 sensationals rather than my 3 exquisite+'s but oh well. Wages are pretty intense.

I'm up for a friendly too, preferably against someone who won't kill me! The joy of winning FC has been tempered by the team below me losing to a team who hadn't won a match in OD meaning I stay in Div IV. Need a morale-boosting close match before the inevitable hidings start.
