I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Haha massive awta. Had my team since, what, 2005? or something. It's been the same continuous cycle throughout most of that.

Yet to get bored as I'm only just starting to develop some sort of semblance of a competitive team thanks to Geg giving me advice on nets.

It's a tough situation that users like Nnandon face. The real appeal for many in this game is training up players for six-seven seasons. You gain a connection with your players, logging in on a Saturday in hope of seeing a skill increase. To be faced with selling these players is tough just to keep away from bankruptcy. It is a very rinse/repeat style of game that I can understand after three or four years becomes tiring.

I still enjoy Battrick. I'm still training my original set of trainee's. My bank balance is healthy. I feel like I'm playing in three decent leagues in which it is a challenge to maintain my position. The one thing I miss is the lack of Battrick discussion on CW. Most of the members have lost interest which is understandable. It used to be exciting updating everyone on matches and the progress of trainee's. I was interested enough to follow the matches of a number of other members. Lucky to have 1 post a month in this thread now.

Can't remember if you ever registered for CricSim but a fair amount of discussion there and some guys who know their stuff.

I hardly have enough time in the day for CW. Thanks for the tip though.

Pops for today.

Owen Verma - 19 yo, BT Rating=41,188, Wage=£7,791
A cautious RH batsman and a steady RFM bowler. He has competent leadership skills and abysmal experience. He has no preference and no trait.
He currently has superb batting form, strong bowling form and sublime fitness.

Stamina: superb Wicket Keeping: strong
Batting: remarkable Concentration: superb
Bowling: abysmal Consistency: feeble
Fielding: worthless

Jlloyd Burke - 17 yo, BT Rating=10,250, Wage=£818
A cautious RH batsman and a cautious RM bowler. He has respectable leadership skills and woeful experience. He has no preference but is a OD Specialist.
He currently has competent batting form, proficient bowling form and fair fitness.

Stamina: competent Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: worthless Concentration: abysmal
Bowling: strong Consistency: respectable
Fielding: mediocre

Both are looking very ***y. Far better prospects than my original crop of trainees.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
I have developed a bond with my fictional players. I still have some who don't play because they've been with me for so long I can't bring myself to fire them. There's just still this gap between the players I have trained up over the years and those who are placeholders for 'trainees' yet to come, which makes it feel as though it'll be another 2-3 years before I have an XI that is made up of trained-from-youth players.

Long road I guess and it is realistic if you compare it to domestic cricket, but I've had an FTP side since it started and it's been able to hold my interest far better than Battrick, which started to wane after a couple of years.

Towards the end of my second season in Battrick..Main thing that kept my interest is that one of my trainees was selected for the Kenya U19s. Other than that its just bot smashing and the occasional game against a human opponent.

Yeah thats the biggest problem with FTP. Unless you 'play the game' and do a lot of buying and selling it's easy to lose money. Just don't have the time to monitor the trade market.
I havent made a purchase since 16th December. Got a drunken bid on someone now though.

I hardly ever log in, i dont even set orders anymore.

My team still goes alright.

Zero Pillars and Hero Fillers
Batting - Top Order: 12,366
Batting - Middle Order: 11,720
Batting - Tail: 4,649
Bowling - Seam: 13,340 (6)
Bowling - Spin: 13,715 (4)
Fielding/Keeping: 13,489
Overall: 218,209

Senior One Day #3 in One Day 1.1
Rankings Country: 3, World: 22
Twenty20 #2 in Twenty20 2.2
Rankings Country: 3, World: 32

Even with points in T20, so should beat them this week and promote, and SOD is anyones game.

Still, dont mind whatever happens because ive lost all interest.

Though still more interest then in this stupid game, yet to lose a game this season, won my 3rd straight bangladesh cup. Off to Div 1 next season, will be 4 human teams 4 bots. Will win that undefeated, as well as the cup. Off to Div III in T20 though, which should see me demoting, but at least i will get matches where my team is put to the test.

Sirajganj Sea Warriors Four Pillars and Poor Fillers
Top Order: abysmal elite
Middle Order: abysmal respectable
Lower Order: worthless woeful
Seam Bowling: abysmal miraculous
Spin Bowling: abysmal elite
Fielding: woeful competent

Though my trainees are still a we bit tired from playing cup and OD, so could see another level in middle order and seam bowling by the end of the season

You could always rest players in the Cup and OD League. Just sayin'.

BT's lost a lot of interest for me too. Really I'm just messing about now. Trying to get an all Worthless player (Angus Maitland, one of the all-worthlesses who was picked for the NZ Nat team) to 100 OD/BT20 wickets and 1000 OD/BT20 runs.

Currently playing an all-Worthless friendly game.

End of Over 7: 35-1, runrate=5.00, reqrunrate=5.63 (276-4)
Wynand 4-0-26-0
Prendergast* 6 (7 balls)
Maitland 15 (22 balls)
Last Wicket: Webster b. Wills 10 (FOW: 16/1)

ITSTL.

FTP is better, and if you develop your own squad and keep your ground big, money isn't a big issue.

I got paid 2 million the other day for an average player, in return I played the guy at a friendly and played a very weak team so he would win.

Really grateful for the investment in our franchise. That is where the money is.

First 35 ITS pull!

Trevor is a defensive LH Batsman, and an attacking LH finger spin Bowler. He has abysmal leadership skills and abysmal experience.

He currently has respectable batting form, respectable bowling form and fresh fitness.

Plays For: ***** XI
Nationality: West Indies
Age: 17 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 5,845
Wages: £1,120 p/w
Preference: None
Trait: None
Stamina: competent Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: worthless Concentration: worthless
Bowling: respectable Consistency: mediocre
Fielding: worthless

Gonna train him. Hope he does well alongside my Kenyan U19. Second season of Battrick and people have advised me not to spend all my nets on these two but tbh the I cbf about my actual team, since I just thrash bots and get thrashed by the non bot teams. Have about 5 competitive fixtures a season which is a real bore.

AAAAAAAARRRGGGHH!!

Changed my line-up and forgot to set orders. And this after a good start in Div IV last week with a win over a team I couldn't get close to in my last attempt on Div IV.

Currently have a batsman bowling...my very good all-rounder won't get to roll his arm over...not even worth watching.

And losing that just sent me broke in Battrick. Got rolled for 44. gg.

Does anyone know how the team rating work in this?

Was ranked 500th in Australia just over a week ago, then beat the 121st ranked team in OD, knocked over a nuffy in FC, and beat a team ranked around 500 in OD this week. Am now ranked 745th  Assume it has something to do with going back down to a lower division in FC, which seems to be weighted a little too heavily over actually beating higher ranked teams in OD.

Have started OD Div IV well this season with 2 wins from two games. Is a marked improvement from 3 seasons ago when I couldn't really compete. Need to train up some new guys to take the place of some of my better player though...wish Battrick would let you train up more than a couple.
