Pretty much Some one stood out in Everyone of them. In 2004 Aus for eg, Sehwag was Pretty Great and Sachin was practically missing.
I am talking individual test collapses. And like I said, there are more occasions of India collectively failing that I can recall. SA were just better under pressure.

I don't think I remember every collapse both line-up and can't be arsed to do so.

Yk among his 2 English tours, his first one was pretty decent; and he only sucked in the 2 matches in 2011.
Sehwag averages 21 as an opener in England, South Africa&New Zealand and looked clueless at times. Graeme Smith wasn't a world beater at home or in Asia but was a decent bat in both places. Dravid had more pronounced weaknesses than Kallis and De Villiers. Laxman was never the all-conditions run machine that Amla was for a sustained period. The Indian quartet, as strong as they were, very clearly had the lower floor.

None of them are clearly as Brilliant in all conditions like Sachin. Dravid in SA and Kallis in England are about Equal, and both sucked in SL. So I don't think Dravid had more pronounced weaknesses. Laxman wasn't all conditional like Amla, but he certainly didn't sucked necessarily anywhere. And I don't think Smith was decent at Home against Good teams. All in all, don't think just going by checklist is going to convince me they were close.

LoL. You didn't provided anything in depth. I do remember ABD and Amla sucking to Ashwin/Jadeja.
I gave several examples and I can give you the counter examples from SA. Clearly SA collapsed less.

And Kallis and Smith had retired by the time ABD and Amla faced Ashwin Jadeja.

I'm telling you now as condition of this exercise you must treat him as opener.
I think that's kinda silly tbh. I don't do Silly. The only reason I include Sehwag in my AT India XI is because I have Dravid opening and him to bat at 5/6.

Silly to include Sehwag as opener if his entire career was as one?

I will take that to mean he is notably worse than Smith in that role and therefore SA are better.

It's silly to let him play as an Opener in SA when he struggled to do so and actually did much better in the MO, Yes. Let him Open in SC and AUS ofcourse.

He is also notably better in that role in SC, where around 3/8 of the matches are to be played in, yes. Also equal in Australia and WI, yes.

And the fact that India folded much more often than SA in their time shows that too.
