Badrinath Speaks Out

That aspect definitely makes sense. I'm not arguing that speaking out was the smartest idea, but I disagree that it says anything bad about Badri's character or maturity.
So you think it is mature not to be smart or to hurt one's own chances of selection.

I'm not really in the loop about the politics or otherwise surrounding his (non)selection but what would you suggest he do? Quietly going about belting the living daylights out of local attacks doesn't seem to have worked very well for him.

Badrinath reminds me very much of Darren Lehmann; scores scads of runs, is acknowledged as very talented but doesn't get a look-in for the national side. Any other reason why? I've only seen videos of him and is it fair to say his play against pace might count against him? I just detected a hint of fishing outside off-stump occasionally but highlights don't obviously tell the story. Someone more knowledgeable about Badrinath pitch in here?

Yuvraj shouldn't get a match. Badrinath shouldn't be playing alongside him, but ahead of him. Play him at four, with five bowlers (not necessarily Irfan), and he'll have to score some big ones- and he can.
If Yuvi remains Yuvi, and Mendis remains Mendis, I won't be surprised if he'd be goosecooked in the Idea Cup and Badri perma-slotted (well, atleast for the Champions Trophy) at No. 6.

I am not really sure.. I guess he has his weaknesses but then, so do the men selected above him. I would be really surprised if Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli were much better than Badri in terms of outside off against fast bowlers... Most Indian batsmen tend to fish at balls outside off stump esp. when it is short of length, because you dont get much movement or bounce off that length in most tracks in India and you get used to riding the bounce and just playing the ball away from the body, even in defence..........

I have seen him just once and he looked very good in that innings but one innings is never enough to tell everything.

I have no doubt he will get his chance sooner rather than later. Lets hope he comes good. India badly needs new people being ready to start filing the spots getting free now and in the coming year or so.

I have a feeling Badrinath's career will look very much like Hemang Badani's. Badani was a very good batter and a good fielder. Could also bowl at crucial times. He was never given a chance to settle down and many times, he was wasted at number 7.

What are the chances of Badrinath going the same way?
