australia under 19 side tomorrow

brockley

Expect the following players to be chosen, sarnia, dave murphy, phillip hughes, michael hill steve smith, sam robson, jeff faulkner may play as an allrounder, jeremy smith,d burns,k richardoson, marc starc and forget the qld keepers name.
Fairly strong squad if chosen.
Either the Vics or NSW won the under 19 champs.
Any other names you think.

Looks like a very strong side :) I think Phil is a dead cert. Same with Steve Smith. Can't wait for the U-19 World Cup. I think this is one of our strongest groups of players to chose from for a while.

NSW to dominate selection, mind you its seems the Australia side still lacks depth. From most of the off season series it was only a couple guys close the FC cricket that performed. The rest seem to struggle at that level.

Kumar sarnia has been a huge dissapointment, after all the hype.
Our problem is speedsters i think, not heard of jon pattinson this year, must be injured,if fit he would have been picked.
If we pick robson, burns and smith in the team gives us a decent spin attack.
Malaysia gives a lot of spin ,we saw athat at the commonwealth games.

Well you have the aussie under 19 keeper who is a queenslander.
Been hard years for queensland under 19,west australia had an off year too.
Definitely the stars of the teams this year was NSW,vics and Tassie.

Anyone know where I can find the scorecards? Cricinfo doesn't seem to update theirs and CA isn't a good site.

Also, Burns would be a cert, he was picked for under 19s when 17, so he has a few years in the 19s.

Hmm, James Pattinson still picked. When is the world cup to be played, he still hasn't bowled this season due to stressies.

I agree won't be bowling until after xmas from servere stress fractures, I was happy I was on his side for school cricket. Some spells were scary for a 16 year old to be producing.

Wat did sarna do at the championships? seems to me that him and patto got in more on repuation then performance at the championships

Disapointed no Canberra players picked after the 2nd place finish lol. In the local paper thismorning there was talk upto 6 ACT players might be in contention. The one with the best shot I thought was Devoy seeing as they'll be keen to develope an extra young spinner or two, however his batting and fielding obviously counted against him and speaking to the guy himself he didnt think he was much of a chance.

My thoughts on the aussie u/19 sqaud

Michael Hill (VIC) Very attacking batsman and handy medium pace bowler, recently named player of championships.
Phillip Hughes (NSW) superstar best batsman in team will lead the way in runs scored and a definite for future national honours.
Daniel Burns (NSW) very handy left arm spinner will keep runs quiet from his end and a very good wicket taking spinner.
Michael Cranmer (SA) good all rounder attacking batter handy with ball will be a handy player
James Faulkner (Tasmania) very good all rounder genuine with bat and ball will play first class cricket fine championship 250 runs and 11 wickets.
Josh Hazlewood (NSW) very tall quick bowler for 16 will be hard to handle in the world cup
David King (Victoria) medium pace bowler took 16 wickets in cha, pionship and one reason why victoria won the u/19 title
Dominic O'Brien (Queensland wicket keeper in side fine keeper question mark on his run scoring ability would of picked tasmanian brady jones
Kirk Pascoe (SA) fine opening batsman hit 2 tons in championships and will b a good contributer in the world cup.
James Pattinson (Victoria) question mark on his fitness but looks a good bowler at good pace
Clive Rose (Victoria) very good young left arm spinner will bowl tight doesn't bowl a bad ball.
Kumar Sarna (Victoria) very writsty opening batsman from the sub continent type of player and will perform at the highest level
Jeremy Smith (Tasmania) dominating opening bowler 16 wickets and dominated the one day comp taking 13 wickets in 4 games bowls at very good pace.

Thanks Woodsy. Question for you though, what’s the reason behind yourself only getting 2 games, I noticed you only bowled the 5 in your second match for 13, did you get injured? The scorecards after your games would suggest an omission was unwarranted.

Good luck with your cricket by the way, as you can tell by my avatar I would love to see getting bags of wickets for the Tigers one day soon.

no i wasn't injured i was just out of favour with the coaches i thought it was very harsh myself so now im going to prove them wrong and go for higher honours.

That's definitely a very good, professional attitude to have.

I'm sure I'm not alone here in wishing you the best for the future. Hope you can prove your coaches wrong :)

Congratulations on playing in the tournament. We have a star spinner in vic_othdox who went to the last u/19 WC, Jack McNamara is his name. Now I'm probably going to cop a 7 day ban for that :p

Went to India as well as part of the u-19 team in 05 as well.

Is there links to the last u-19 tournament? The CA site is so un-user friendly IMO.
