Aussie Rugby Players popping pills

Now we know why the Waratahs are doing better than usual this season! they're popping caffeine pills.
God help Peter Hewat when he stops using them.

If the Waratahs are playing this good on those pills then if the Canterbury team started taking them, the rest may aswell forget about turning up to the games each week.

This is only getting media coverage because of the big controversy in AFL relating to players using NO-DOZ and a coach not approving of it...

I used NO-DOZ caffein tablets all last year for football (AFL), just one before each game, they really really make a difference, youre all pepped up and energetic. I have no problems with players taking them at all, apparently you can improve your performance by up to 7%.

its not just Australians using them, is apparently wide spread through Union, League and AFL. wouldn't surprise me if the Crusaders or any other super 12 team had been on them for a fair while

What is weird is that once the ban was off, the Australians were imediately taking them again.

why because we play by the laws and don't take them when the bans on and then take it when it's off?

The Crusaders don't need to take performance enhancing pills to win the Super 12. But it's obvious that the Waratahs have needed something extra to make up for the lack of talent in their side.

George Gregan takes them before a big match.

Maybe that is the advantage of owning a chain of coffe shops?

yeah i reckon he get's a free box sent with ever case of beans he buys...

i reckon it's just the kiwi's clutching at straws again, which really says a lot about them as a people.

Not really, considering the amount we cop from Australians..it's only natural that when something like this comes up then knives will be out.

If you believe that the australians are the only ones using them then you must also believe that the only people using steroids are the ones that get caught. (Not that I'm comparing these tablets to steroids mind you...that'd be silly!)

My statement it based on what i have heard, obviously other players use them around the world.

There is no evidence yet to suggest whether NZ players are or not, but I highly doubt it. Any player using even a caffeine pill in NZ would be condemned and thrown out of their sport.

You can't hide in New Zealand, so it would be EXTREMELY risky to take drugs.

Its proven now that the caffeine pill is a performancing enhancing drug. Several players have admitted it boosts their performance by at least 7%, which is very high. So surely it will now be banned.

I just cannot believe what Gregan was thinking when he came out & said that. It wasn't like he came out & said "I have seen players using this drug & I think it's wrong" he instead said along the lines "Im using this drug & its great because it boosts your performance"

I seriously thought Gregan was brighter than this.

Isn't that why they shouldn't be taking them.

You do realise, right, that there are many ways to get caffiene without taking these drugs? Unless you also intend to stop sportspeople drinking coffee, soft drink, energy drinks and eating chocolate you're going to have a hard time stopping it.

How much do they cost, and where can you get them?

Yeah but these are straight caffeine tablets..they'd have way more in them than a can of soft drink.
