as prabhath Jayasuriya is way more lethal (in terms of wpm) than Murali after the same number of matches Jayasuriya has played till now.

Imran, player to player wise is better than Murali. He would walk in to any team as a starting candidate. However I don't think he would add much to captaincy over Jayawardane or Sangakkara. In addition, Imran provides what SL lacks. quality express bowling. SL had many spinners, 4 - 5 with similar quality to Herath. Herath and Diluwan Perera could easily replace Murali at least on home turf. See now with Imran, we could play five bowlers. On the other hand if you ask 80s WI the question, they would kill for Murali over any player, including Viv or Marshall, because that is what they lacked.

I love Marshall to death but no he's not the Bradman of pace, no one is. But agreed no specialist bowler spin or otherwise is replacing him in the WI team.

Oh Wi would. They can easily field Garner, Holding and Croft. Then they had Ambrose. There is no one in Wi history as giod as Murali as a spinner. They'd even give up Sobers for him.

Once again, it is not only how good is the player (Sorbers and Marshall are better players), it is also how much of commodity of that quality of players would be the question. It is just like Murali is a better bowler than Steyn, Ambrose, Donald or Wasim, but since SL has no one with that quality they are extremely valuable.

A WI team sans Marshall, but with Murali will annhiliate way more teams.
