... And the Speedarm

I bought one of those Speedarm ball throwers but can't get the technique right. I just end up throwing the ball into the ground.

What am I doing wrong?

Stop trying to throw it so hard and essentially flick your wrist rather than start with it back behind your ear like you would with a normal throwing action. It takes some time to get used to them but once you do you'll terrorize blokes,. Will be awesome.

Thanks Burgey,
I'll give it go and post the results.
When I see them do it on YouTube, it looks like they are bowling it... But no actual advice.
Cheers!

Yeah but the guys doing that have been using them for ages You need to find a way to get a repeatable way of landing it, then just build on it once you've got that down pat.

They're loads of fun. Just go down to the nets by yourself and practice for a half hour or so at a time and you'll get it.

It also depends what type you got - some are more flexible than others so you need to use less energy to throw fast, but the margin of error on those is less than the ones which are stiff.

I got a short-handled one. Leverage Speedarm I think it's called. I'll be at the nets as soon as I can find some time when it's not raining haha.

I've tried a couple of times, really suck at it.

They actually hire specialists these days and bring them on tours and stuff just to give throwdowns.

I've had some improvement... Not yet 100% but there's hope.

The trick seems to be snapping the wrist just the right amount at the top of the arc.

Yep, that's it. Until you get used to it and get closer to something like a"normal" action which incorporates the wrist flick. You'll get there mate.
