Ames 6, Jadeja 7?

That batting lineup is really bad. How did we go from sanga and sobers and border and de villiers at 6 to Ames/Jadeja ffs.

Jadeja is also the sixth bowling option what even is the point? A specialist bat like Miandad or Worrell would've been miles better.

Fair enough. Should've gone Worrell then though imo.

Jadeja is not good enough to bat 6 in an ATG xi.
If Botham can why not Jadeja? Especially if we have Ames, Pollock and Davidson to follow. That's some serious batting depth imho. Would have preferred him at 7 with Flower or Pant at 6, but think it's fine.

Botham is selected as a 7 below de villiers. That's fine.

The drop in quality of the number 6 from the first 4 XIs to the fifth is huge.

I think that's made up by the additional depth though. Ames isn't close to ABD or Walcott, but they are keeping so shan't really expect 100% batting output, and Davidson is better than Lindwall and equal to Ashwin, and ofcourse Pollock is a fair bit of boost.
