Mf how did you do an analysis that led to four different serieses when he toured England five times

I excluded 82 largely

1971: Poor
1974: Fine
1979: ATG
1982: Poor (but 3 inns only)
1986: Poor

he also had one county season and it was surprisingly bad for a batsman of his stature, IIRC he averages 34 and only got two hundreds in 23 innings. Definitely didn't like English pitches.

71 poor (though right after debut), 86 mid (3rd highest scorer), 74 good (low scoring + Great ton), 77 ATG (221 highlight), 82 doesn't counts for much (3 innings of 48, 24 and 2).

He was the third highest scorer coz Amarnath missed 1 game in 86

Still think it was a mid series. He scored 30 odd in all but 1 innings. And 74 was definitely good in context

Yeah the 1980 Somerset season... Although weren't including FC

as far as First Class Cricket goes, Gavaskar averaged 43 in England and Merchant averaged 62, though Merchant's big England session came right after the war so I can't vouch for the bowling quality.

Yes honestly it does. Its not the name they’ve used on scorecards, its not the name I’ve seen over and over on statsguru and other websites, like cmon.
