You put them in orderUnreal disrespect to Willis
Tate is well behind Larwood, but in the same tier as bowlers. As players they are debatable, but Larwood as he can swing as wellLike I remember...
Btw where do you guys rate Tate then compared to Larwood?
Why Snow at last?Bedser
Statham
Willis
Larwood
Snow
Well as far as disrespecting Willis goes, Hutton in his book says Willis in comparison to Larwood, Lindwall and Trueman is a "shire horse to their Derby Thoroughbred", which in non-British means Willis is a farm horse compared to those guys who are race horses.Unreal disrespect to Willis
Simply not as tested away from home as the others are. Even though his record is impressive but it's a sample of what, 12 tests in his whole career? Why Snow at last?
But in those 12 games, he has:Simply not as tested away from home as the others are. Even though his record is impressive but it's a sample of what, 12 tests in his whole career?
Yeah but 3 away tours in a career of 11 years? But in those 12 games, he has:
Aus: 6 m, 31@22.8
WI: 4 m, 27@18
Pak: 2m, 4@21
Absolutely Great stuff, especially AUS and WI
Yeah, shitty English Selection strikes again. But both his Australia and WI tours were arguably ATG.Yeah but 3 away tours in a career of 11 years?
Yeah they were, buy that's why I have him ahead of someone like Broad, but can't have him over guys like WillisYeah, shitty English Selection strikes again. But both his Australia and WI tours were arguably ATG.
I can understand, just feel his away game number would be an issue if it was on the weaker side. While it's the Exact opposite, his Home record is worse in comparison and he had absolutely ATG away returns. Heck, both his away full tours were better than anything from Dylan.Yeah they were, buy that's why I have him ahead of someone like Broad, but can't have him over guys like Willis
Yeah he's up there as well... Adcock or Pollock? We've not voted in a Pollock for a while.
Probably about time for another Pollock.
Oh yeah, Statham out Spofforth in. Damn we were so close...Spofforth and Lohmann should be receiving votes as well imo
Will say Willis is better at home thoughRegarding Snow vs Willis – Both of Snow's away tours trump Willis's foreign tours, Willis was taken apart in West Indies and was a little defensive in Australia (3 WPM), Willis in 1979 or 1980 in the weird three match series in Australia by England bowled so badly that Australia won 2-1, it was probably on par with what Jake Ball and Mason Crane did in Australia in 2017, though the pitches Willis got were the best Australia ever was for bowling and he still tanked so bad. Willis gets point for his work in Asia and New Zealand, but overall I think Snow trumps him by a bit, largely because everyone who saw both overwhelmingly favours Snow, I have seen more people compare or slot Snow with Trueman or Lillee than I have seen people place him with Willis. The consensus is not as one sided as Compton vs Barrington but it's quite one sided.
