Spofforth could take 1-2 of them imo... And Lohmann's not much far behind Spofforth for me
Lohmann > Spofforth imo.

Who ever said it was absolute.

I certainly have never said it was, but it has to be a consideration as well, and not an insignificant one.

If a player has either the numbers or the peer ratings, but lacking the other, there's definitely something worth looking at there.
Guess you need to look into your Lillee rating a lot then.

Can't agree with that.... Although they're not far off for me
For me at least.. (excluding SA stats for Lohmann we have)

Lohmann 77 @ 13.01 others 432 @ 17.32
Spofforth 94 @ 18.41 others 468 @ 20.48

Spofforth took more big hauls but Lohmann was more consistent, I especially think thats a bit more important for me at least, when talking about an ATG attack.

You have to include FC as well with players of that era... I think Spofforth has the edge combined...

In our all-time country XIs Spofforth made the 3rd Australian XI, whereas Lohmann made the 4th England XI and Australia's depth in pace bowlers (and bowlers in general) is FAR greater than England's.

That's true for ATG pacers. England has more 2nd tier pacers than Australia imo (Bedser, Statham, Larwood, Snow, Willis, Tate, Lohmann, etc).

Depth without a proper spine is useless. Jadeja at 6 in an ATG xi is atleast one spot too high. Just would look incredibly out of place when the number 6s we've selected so far are Sobers, Sangakkara, Border, Walcott, de villiers .
