Exactly. There's no more important and critical position than your opening bowlers. That's where your best bowlers are, where victories are set up, they get the absolute best of the new ball.
The only consideration that there should be, and quite frankly, ever has been, is are these the best bowlers, the best combination.
You don't **** around worrying about who had the highest batting average.
I don't know why you're upset. The odds are, McGrath will be picked as the third pacer and the team can still use him as an opening bowler with Hadlee at first change. Would you be happy then or still unhappy because Hadlee is in the team?
You might have moved Hadlee out of the GOAT pacer tier but not everybody has. In fact, I think the majority forum opinion would be that Hadlee is in that tier, not necessarily at #1, but still in that GOAT pacer tier (as in he's a GOAT pacer contender or is in the conversation for GOAT pacer).
Somebody could start a poll on this. Not me, I'm more a lurker and wouldn't know how to but it could be along the lines of "Does Hadlee belong to the GOAT pacer tier?", with the options being:
Yes, by himself
Yes, with one other bowler
Yes, with two other bowlers
Yes, with more than two other bowlers
No, I'm with kyear2 on this
But before they vote, they should read my posts
here and
here, just to make sure that they vote correctly! I wouldn't want them to make a mistake!
