I actually kind of wish we'd gone with a third opener at #3 and Amla at #4 now; didn't think ahead.

I know what you mean PEWS.

I sort of roughly put together 9.5 teams and 2 uncapped teams. So when you have to adjust it is easier to do or plan ahead like you say :D

I certainly have Wessels planned to bat 3 where he batted often as quite a few associate him opening too.

I sort of tried to get balance in teams. If you batted 4 mainly or 5 mainly. Like I did with Taylor/Bland and my next 4/5 for example.

We have a few batsmen who didn't play many tests or got a chance in their peak career are coming up now too. Namely Jimmy Cook, Kepler Wessels, Peter Kirsten, Lee Irvine who are widely acknowledged how good they were.

Good read here on Irvine : https://citizen.co.za/sport/south-a...835/lee-irvine-sas-underrated-batsman-bacher/

Clearly 2 of our best batmen ever. Their exploits in the Currie Cup which was peak cricket is well documented too. Tough cricket.

Guys like Kallis, Gibbs, G.Kirsten at WP would look up to guys like Barlow, Hylton Ackerman, P.Kirsten, McEwan, Kuiper with the bat
