All-Time England XIs - A re-run

Leyland averages 57 in Ashes tests, dominating and making 6 hundreds against Bill O Reilly and has a good record against all sides and everywhere bar the West Indies which is just sample size lol, high reputation on stickies and under crisis. Surely, Harry Brook has not done enough to make in over all that.

I didn't realise that he played 5 tests against WI and scored 37 runs at 4.62. That's nice. Anyway, Leyland was just another Paynter whose FC average of 40 is more reflective of his worth.

Should have also bothered mentioning the 52 average against Rest of the teams...Some players are naturally more successful on the bigger stage IE Barrington, McGrath (for NSW), Cowdrey and so forth, and Leyland was judged to be just that back then, a better test bat than a FC bat and his numbers reflect that. Paynter is good but 20 tests IE less than half of Maurice is kinda disqualifying to me. My comment was about Brook anyway.
