How ironic. The first team is ridiculous problems with its wicket keeper position, and yet the second team has three wicket keepers in it!

Anyway, I think it'd be more like this:

1. Mal Loye
2. Alastair Cook
3. Ian Bell
4. Andrew Strauss
5. Owais Shah/Vikram Solanki/Usman Afzaal
6. Ravi Bopara
7. Chris Read
8. Liam Plunkett
9. Ashley Giles
10. Chris Tremlett
11. Saj Mahmood

First XI would contain Trescothick, Pietersen, Anderson and Lewis which would drop a few of the current starters (Strauss, Bell, Plunkett, Mahmood) back to this team.
Yeah,Afzaal and Shah are decent players but the problem is that they are both poor fielders and don't bowl.Something which DF doesn't like.he said one day cricketers should be good in the 2 out of 3 areas.

Shah and Afzaal can both bowl quite decent part-time tripe actually. Especially Afzaal, who actually has a test wicket and bowled fairly regularly in his three test appearances. It's probably about on par with Yardy (who is incidently one of the worst fielders ever.)

I don't see what's so special about the fielding or bowling of Prior, either. He can keep but that's fairly useless when Read is in the side as well.

Why would Bell be dropped? He's one of Englands better ODI batsman.

Because they won't drop Vaughan, a fully-functional Trescothick, Joyce, Pietersen, Collingwood or Flintoff. That's why. Joyce could possibly be dropped I suppose, but then he'd just take the place of Bell in the lineup I have there.
IMO, Joyce would be the one dropped instead of Bell.

5. Jesse Ryder
6. Rob Nicol
7. Gareth Hopkins
8. Jeetan Patel
9. Mark Gillespie
10. Michael Mason
11. Ian O'Brien
I think thats a similar side to one the selectors would pick.

Here is mine:

1. Tim McCintosh
2. Craig Cumming
3. Peter Ingram (is he a kiwi?)
4. James Marshall (recent form domestic)
5. Jesse Ryder
6. *Matthew Sinclair
7. +Peter McGlashan (recently good batting but would pick hopkins for gloves)
8. B Scott
9. James Franklin
10. Jeetan Patel
11. Mark Gillespie

Close to making it - Aldridge,C Martin, N McCullum, Hopkins, Parlane, Nicol

Bit harsh on Franklin to have him at 11!

First Class
Dale Richards (Bar)
Adrian Barath (TT)
*Sylvester Joseph (LI)
Ryan Hinds (Bar)
Narsingh Deonarine (Guy)/Kieron Pollard (TT)
Omari Banks (LI)
+Carlton Baugh (Jam)
Richard Kelly (TT)
Ravi Rampaul (TT)
Jason Bennett (Bar) - who sadly can't get a game these days.
Amit Jaggernauth (TT)

No room for Simmons, Joseph or Wavell Hinds in there. Barath is already a better batsman than Simmons and even at 16, a better choice at the top of the order. Runako Morton would be in the in-between too.

Peters, George, Sammy and Best around the team too.

One Day
Dale Richards (Bar)
+Patrick Browne (Bar)
*Sylvester Joseph (LI)
Ryan Hinds (Bar)
Narsingh Deonarine (Guy)
Kieron Pollard (TT)
Omari Banks (LI)
Darren Sammy (WI)
Richard Kelly (TT)
Ravi Rampaul (TT)
Esuan Crandon (Guy)

Impressive batting depth there, with everyone able to hold the bat. The bowling attack isn't overpowering, but has its merits with some WI senior team contenders in there. Browne is the best of very few options to take the gloves.

Apparently I'm the only one who gives a **** about India's "A" team.

India A
Cheteshwar Pujara
Gautam Gambhir
Mohammad Kaif *
Suresh Raina
Subramaniam Badrinath
Dinesh Karthik +
Irfan Pathan
Piyush Chawla
Ramesh Powar
Ishant Sharma
VRV Singh
Reserves: Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Manoj Tiwary, Joginder Sharma/Ranadeb Bose, Gagandeep Singh

You can always put guys like Uthappa and Pathan in the A team
Here's my India A team. It's more a development team than an immediate reserve team.
  • Chopra
  • Dhawan
  • Rohit Sharma
  • Badrinath
  • Yashpal Singh
  • Dinesh Karthik (WK)
  • Piyush Chawla (LBG)
  • Praveen Kumar (RM)
  • R Ashwin (SLA)
  • VRV Singh (RFM)
  • Ishant Sharma (RFM)
  • RESERVES: Pujara, Tiwari, Bose (RMF), RP Singh (LMF)
And here's a next-best reserves XI, preferably a Board President's team for tour matches:
  • Jaffer
  • Dheeraj Jadhav
  • Yashpal Singh
  • Amol Mazumdar
  • Mithun Manhas
  • Pankaj Dharmani (WK)
  • Joginder Sharma (RMF)
  • Rajesh Pawar (SLA)
  • Nilesh Kulkarni (SLA)
  • Gagandeep Singh (RM)
  • Rakesh Patel (RM)

Jaffer shouldn't be in any India reserve team right now. He's not a one-day prospect and he's already in the test side.
