It should've never gone to that stage. Failing to defend 370+ scores twice in a row. When has this ever happened? This is unprecedented.

We've only staged 'comebacks' when the games are long gone. It's just delaying the inevitable.
This game is far from done! Jamie Smith is stuck, and if he’s out, we’re fully into the bowlers!

Jaiswal, Nair and Gill got out cheaply (as sometimes happens), but I think ultimately England bowled very well at Lord’s, not sure I’d call that a bottle job
Disagree. 193 was gettable on that pitch. The pitch flattened out when the ball got softer on day 5. England bowled well but India gave some cheap wickets away.

I think we got caught between two minds, there was obviously no way we were ever going to chase that down, but chasing is so ingrained in us and we just have absolutely no experience of gritting it out for a draw, it was like asking them to put toothpaste back in a tube
Batting out a day for a draw shouldn't be beyond any Test batting lineup, though.

Don’t think anyone gave their wickets away cheaply on Day 5 (apart from possibly Bumrah, but can you ever really blame a bunny like him for a dismissal?)

regardless of how it ends, several things India will take away from this. One Gambhir sucks and so does the selection. But whatever I think of his abilities, I have been so completely impressed with Siraj. Bloke puts his body on the line for the team and just doesn’t give up. Respect to his fitness and commitment over five tests.

Traditionally, you’d say surviving for a day and a bit, and surviving a slightly shortened final day having started the day 3 down is more or less 50-50, but I’m not sure this team have the defensive nous to do that
