5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Crawley and Pope at 1 and 3 doesn’t give you the steel you need in Australia. Same dismissals over and over.

Crawley getting Yorker bowled with a ball to go is such a Crawley thing, and then Pope falls for the Siraj classic again.

On balance, India deserve at least a series draw- as an England fan if we’re honest we could probably say that they’ve had England behind the 8 ball in 3 of the 5 tests- Headingley, Edgbaston and Lords, where England managed a big chase and 10 wickets off a low target.

If Australia get in the same positions I fear a 4-0 or 5-0 drubbing.

I've said this before. The middle order is England's strong point with Root/Brook/Stokes/Smith.

International Vice-Captain
Random sidenote but I think Root is terrible at this. I feel like he often encourages poor batting reviews from the non-striker's end.
He's not the only one, most of the non striker batsmen don't want to tell their buddies not to review it and they aren't the best judges from their view.

They also don't to tell them not to review it and then with the replay it shows they weren't out.

Tough position to be in as they are not umpires but players should put their emotions away and give objective advice.

Well they do have already have the following century partnerships. So here's hoping for a new third best, I'd take 188 though

I don’t doubt they are capable of it, nor do I disagree it’d give us an excellent chance of victory. I’m hoping they can get us 200-3 and it’ll look much healthier. Maybe I need to be more ambitious!
