5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Bumrah must never play for Siraj to reach his full potential.
Bumrah's probably wondering what cricketing god he angered that he had to bowl at OT and get half a dozen chances dropped at Headingley while missing out here, this looks a tailor made deck for him from how much it's skidding on

I was just about to praise Bethell for a great cut shot after getting beaten by Siraj.

Then he gets trapped lbw by Siraj with a great full ball and has to walk straight off.

This has been a great spell from Siraj, almost Bumrah like.

That's what you get wasting the lads summer not playing cricket.

Fewer than 250 balls faced by Bethell since the 1st April. Only his second FC game after a great test series in NZ.

If the English openers hadn't done what they did... England would've been in deep trouble. That opening stand of around 100 runs saved the match.

To be fair, he wasted the first half of it himself at the IPL.
That's not really on him.

The England setup want their white ball players playing in it. They also don't believe that practicing red ball is relevant for success at test level.

With the latter seen by the fact we've got one game against the Lions, to prep us for the Ashes

We need a decent lead here considering we're batting last and have a two-man bowling attack. Key phase of the game.

Don't think I have ever seen a more annoying cricketer but I also sort of love him. He is basically Neal Maupay.
He just consistently kinda behaved like a scrappy little prick without ever truly going over the top enough for me to hate him. Also helps that he's neither too terrible nor too good. Either of those two and I think I'd despise him.
