Losing Woakes does somewhat balance the odds. But if England get like 150-200 run lead, then it won't matter as India won't win.. so the match will now be decided by how the next innings goes (Eng's batting). Lack of Woakes will only become a factor if Eng don't get a decent lead against Prasidh Krishna and co.

Granted the parallels aren’t all there (India’s bowlers certainly aren’t as fearsome as Australia’s, and I doubt the 4th innings will be as much of a minefield as then), but I still get nightmares about the first Ashes Test in 2019 when Jimmy got injured, we had Australia in an even worse position but still got nowhere near despite getting a first innings lead

This is the thing with Tongue. Absolutely all over the shop but bowls wicket taking deliveries. So frustrating. Can see what they see in him, must bowl some absolute jaffers in the nets, just has zero idea where it's going to land delivery to delivery.

Thought he'd got an inside edge at first, but no, that's another cracking delivery. I guess this is just what we have to accept with Tongue.
