India’s day, a more consistent bowling attack would have bowled them out already, and with the second best bowler injured and, erm, Jacob Bethell and Joe Root to take up the slack

How does a fast bowler bowl that sort of loopy full-toss on a mild, rainy day like this? And it seems like loose bowling's been on the menu all day long?
Thank the lord for Atkinson today. Tongue and Overton have looked like competition winners most of the day. Tongue's decent balls have picked up wickets mind. Sounds like Woakes is out of action for rest of the game so it could be quite the slog from here, especially if we let India get 300+

I was working through the first two Tests so only saw the highlights, I get he’s not the most controlled bowler in the world, but surely he was less erratic than this?
He was cleaning up the tail but wasn't so hot against the top order. Those pitches and the weather were obviously a different kettle to this; no excuses for being so wayward here.

So is this a 150 pitch and we're cacking it? Thread makes it seem like we're bowling trash.
It’s not a 150 pitch. Atkinson has been very good and also got the massive run out. Woakes was okay and picked up one. Then Tongue bowled about 2 good balls all day and they both took the edge.

It’s the economy rate that looks generous to England. If Jaiswal and Gill had got a partnership going against Tongue and Overton then India could easily be going at 5 an over.
