To be fair, his comment is not just against SC but also low profile teams like NZ which may be one reason he underrates Hadlee.
No one's being down graded.

But is it wrong to give credit for team success or elevating a team to greatness?

That's to goal, to win. Australia doesn't become the GOAT candidate without McGrath.

Re the votes for Hutton and Miller is that only considering their performances after Bradman retired?

In that case it would eliminate Hutton's 364 and Miller's performances for the Invincibles etc.

Miller 39 tests 67 innings 2175 @ 35.08 6 tons 8 fifties
39 tests 68 innings 130 @ 23.40 6 5’fers 1 10’fer

I would have gone with 6, and I also have a clear 7th.

1) Murali - I'm fairly confident he was the greatest cricketer since Don's retirement.

2) McGrath - GOAT fast bowler, probably very close to the next two, in spite not batting a lick.

3) Imran - Tied with Hadlee on combination of bowling and batting value. If I had to make a tie-breaker for captaincy, that would be the only reason to put him over Hadlee.

4) Hadlee - Absolute gun. "Only" played 86 Tests, and didn't have that added boost of legendary level captaincy as an X-factor. Otherwise could place him over any of the above two without thinking twice.

5/6) Kallis/Tendulkar - Token batsmen, voted for Kallis, because his status as an also ran in this poll is a bit wild.

7) Shaun Pollock - He played 108 Tests. That's a legitimate longevity feat for a sub 24 average bowling all-rounder. People don't like him though, so whatevs.

Yes it's wrong to give more credit to players who happen to be in stronger teams

I was reading through CW's 100 greatest cricketers list done by Luffy and some unironically voted Tendulkar over Sobers. Shameful, absolutely shameful.

Team 2 would win, despite Sanga Opening AND keeping being a fair bit too much to ask.

Within the context of this post, there are a suprising amount of votes for Miller. I rate him way higher than most. Behind only Bradman, the big 4ARs, and maybe Murali.

But is he ahead of even Pollock here on this timeframe? Pollock has nearly triple the amount of games, over triple the the amount of wickets, and clearly superior stats.

I honestly believe Shaun Pollock not being in this list is a travesty.

One of the most underrated modern cricketers by CW (after Hayden, of course).

I don't rate Pollocks bowling very highly, and don't think he needs to be on this list. I think he is ahead of Miller if we are using these timeframes.
