Is this the first real dead-rubber of the tournament? Inconsequential game for both teams.
Nah, they'd need 4 real thumping wins, but Pakistan are still in the race (especially if NZ lose to WI on Saturday).

It depends, if Windies win their match this is still relevant

Or if Sri Lanka can do us a solid and beat England.

Otherwise its the dreaded 'playing for pride'

From a SA point of view, and for me there is no real interest in this game; there is only 4 players in the squad I think may have a chance for the future of SA cricket; unfortunately the rest have no future in the SA squad either through retirement or SA just needing to move onwards to the next generation. So it is not just a dead rubber for the WC you can't even look to the future in these games.

Lol, anyone remember 1992 World Cup when Pakistan were written off...

Pak have SA, NZ, AFG and BD so a win here tonight sets them up for a 1992 like finish...it even means Eng can win one of their 3 remaining games vs AUS, NZ and IND and still be knocked out :)

Yeah no dead rubber this one. SA on the other hand just look bereft. Surely tracking to be their worst WC.

Wouldn't it help Bangladesh's cause if they got knocked out here?
Maybe, not sure. BD have to play Pak and Pak would be even on points if they win here, so BD should still make it through

Haris Sohail in for Malik. Good move. Hasan Ali finally dropped too but Shaheen hasn't been much better.

This ought to become another good close, well contested game. Good toss to win, I think, though Faf said he would have bowled anyway.
