CW's 50 Best ODI Cricketers of all time - 2017 Edition

Run it again after CT ends, Nuf.
Good idea harsh as it has been 6 1/2 years since the last edition.

The nomination period can start straight away and I'll ask for everyone's list of their 25 best ODI players when the Champions Trophy has completed. I've just checked that my sheepdraft@gmail.com address is still active so it would be great if you could email me your list there. That way the countdown will be more of a surprise.

The rules for this is that first place will get 25 points, second 24 points all the way down to your 25th selection who will get 1 point.

I'll give everyone 11 nominations and for anyone to be included they'll need to be nominated just twice. You will only be able to make your picks from the nominated players so nominate wisely and only include cricketers who have played an ODI.

Once everything has been done, I'll do a countdown of the 50 best players. For anyone tied on points, the person who has had the most voters will be placed ahead. If that is equal, the player with the highest nomination will be ahead. If that's equal, well they can share that spot.

1 Nice post.
2 Going the underrated player tactic, nice.
3 How do you know he hasn't been a regular contributor of this site since April 2007?
4 That's 12 mate, only allowing 11 at this stage.
5 You're a ****

Whatever it takes!!!
Changed it Nufers.. And just reading the list again, I realize I can have a pretty kickass ODI XI with that group..

Sachin
Lara
Viv
Kohli
Bevan
MSD (wk)
Hussey
Warne
Wasim
Ambrose
Murali

The 5th bowler is a worry but that batting line up should beat around literally any other bowling line up. :)

Pratters

Cricket, Lovely Cricket
Curtly Ambrose
Andrew Symonds
Shane Warne
Kumara Sangakarra
Sourav Ganguly
Lance Klusener
Brian McMillan
Allan Donald
Brian Lara
Kapil Dev
Mohinder Amarnath

Just made a list of the greatest ODI players country-wise and the total comes out to almost 50 by itself.

So, no need to include fancy names as far as I'm concerned.

I'll suggest disallowing people from nominating a guy who has already been nominated twice, this allows a more varied pool, there's no point of people nominating Akram 37 times right now.

That's the idea actually. Once someone has been nominated twice, you are wasting your nominations if you include someone already in the game.

So the players with a 'x 2' are through

Akram, Wasim x 2
Al Hasan, Shakib
Amarnath, Mohinder
Ambrose, Curtly x 2
Anwar, Saeed
Botham, Ian
Crowe, Martin
de Kock, Quinton
de Silva, Aravinda
de Villiers, AB
Dev, Kapil
Dhoni, MS
Donald, Allan
Fairbrother, Neil
Flintoff, Andrew
Ganguly, Sourav x 2
Garner, Joel
Gilchrist, Adam
Harris, Chris
Hick, Graeme
Hussey, Michael
Iqbal, Tamin
Jadeja, Ravi
Kohli, Virat x 2
Klusener, Lance x 2
Lara, Brian x 2
Lloyd, Clive
McGrath, Glenn
McMillan, Brian
Morgan, Eoin
Muralitharan, Muttiah x 2
Pollock, Shaun
Ponting, Ricky
Rabada, Kagiso
Richards, Viv x 2
Root, Joe
Sangakarra, Kumar
Sharma, Rohit
Symonds, Andrew x 2
Streak, Heath
Tendulkar, Sachin x 2
Twose, Roger
Warne, Shane x 2
Waugh, Mark
Williamson, Kane

Can we not do joke nominations like Tamim? Just prolongs the voting process.
