    *Official* Second Test at Lord's

Almost as embarrassing as Cowman getting out to Root in the 1st Test. Another good days play though. More twists and turns to come!

Good session that. I noticed the old lady in the blue hat buggered off when the wickets were tumbling. Fair weather supporter.

    Oops. Sorry Mrs Katich.

More likely than Katich ever being picked again.

Who is this old woman and what's she doing on the bloody ground? Someone call security...

    So could Devon Malcolm!

The difference is that the MCC Laws say you can shine the ball without the use of an artificial substance. I'm not sure where sweat and saliva fit into that. Maybe they're not considered "artificial"?

The current cupboard is pretty bare for quicks really when you consider the options. I'd be ranking Steyn, Anderson, Morkel, Siddle, Philander and then daylight. Lot's of blokes like Patto, Broad, Roach, etc that are very, very dangerous on their day but lack the consistent penetration and...

We already know you can't tamper with the ball. That's enshrined in the Laws of the game, so no sunscreen, minty spit, hair gel, deliberate boot spiking or pockets full of dirt. That is cheating. Thanks for bringing up the litany of past English crimes btw! ;) Aussies......never beaten, only...

Good point about Agar's bandaid. Shouldn't be allowed either. Swanny was hardly in plain view - hunkered down in the shadows behind the drinks cooler! Forget whatever it's called. I'm surprised you'd advocate it. It opens a pandora's box in my opinion. Spray on silicone rubber for the slips...

True. Nothing in the rules - explicitly. But how does it sit with you as far as the "spirit of cricket" goes? Personally, I'd like to see the ICC rub this practice out with a new Playing Condition. After all, I don't think there's anything in the rules about spinners wearing a rubber glove when...

Watto Rogers Uzzie Pup Hughes Smith Haddin Agar (if fit, Lyon at 11or 10 (if Bird plays) if not) Harris (if it's a dusty road again, Bird at 11 if it's a 'normal' wicket) Patto Sidds What'd you think of Swanny's antiperspirant action Adders?

I was referring to Anderson, not Bell.

You might have a bigger dilemma than that Adders. Surely Swanny's not spraying antiperspirant on his hands is he? Is Graeme Swann tampering with the ball? - YouTube The headline and caption refer to the ball but I'm assuming that's safely tucked into the ump's pocket.

Yep. I meant Jimmy, and in particular how dramatic his improvement as a bowler has been compared to Broad's. Bell's got better too of course! I've always loved his technique but never liked his sour puss!

    *Official* Second Test at Lord's

I don't. Worst case scenario is he's played 22 matches of Test cricket, travelled the globe and been well paid for it. If he's mowing the grass at the Adelaide Oval next summer instead of playing the Poms he'll still be a lucky fella.

He was absolutely dreadful in his first Ashes series. I mean he really stunk. Pathetic. In his second series he'd improved to being crap. His third series he was good, and now at the beginning of his fourth, he's very, very good.

Bresnan in for Finn is a no brainer I reckon. He doesn't have the x factor that Tremlett offers but he is strong and robust. Poms will be looking for that I'd think given the short turnaround to Lords and any potential concerns over how Anderson and Broad pull up. Cowman out for Uzzie for us...

He bowled beautifully when he got back. 19 wickets in the 3 matches.
