Dunno would have thought it was def a 420+ pitch. Given how little there is in it for the quicks you'd think Aus would need at least 400 to feel like they're in a decent position.

Border reckons 350 is a par score??? The pitch is flat as an infant.

Bit harsh on the lad...he's averaged 39 for the series so far. He batted exceptionally well in the first Test, in the second Test he got one fantastic delivery and was also run out by his team mate. That was an ordinary shot just now but otherwise he's looked promising. I also reckon his...

Smith must play all 10 Ashes Tests regardless of performance.

Great over for Aus...14 off it. If they can continue at that rate they'll be 380 by stumps.

Three reasons: 1. The quality of batting is poor 2. There are stacks of good pace bowlers around 3. Those pacemen are quite often benefiting from very helpful pitches

The conditions in the Shield are NEVER going to prepare a batsman for playing in India, the same way young Indian batsmen are almost always found out when they first encounter the fast bowler-friendly conditions in Aus, SA and Eng. But his runs in the Shield should not be discounted altogether...

Aus have pissed away a good start but, I tells ya, if someone had said we'd be 3-180 at tea I'd have taken it in a heartbeat given this batting lineup. Cowan really needs this tea break, he's become bogged like a Camry in dunes...only 26 runs from his last 100 balls!!

This is a career-defining moment for Cowan. If he goes on with this and makes a big hundred it could finally cement his position in the side and launch him as a Test cricketer. A lot of people have said he isn't good enough for Test cricket, and maybe that is true. But he has so consistently...

I know the selectors wanted to back Phil Hughes and were painted into a corner after the four axings, but selecting him in this Test was a morbid decision. He was destined to fail and it will just utterly decimate his already shattered confidence heading into an Ashes series in which he was...

He just got an extremely rare delivery from Jadeja that actually turned sharply. No great mystery IMO.

That's why you can't throw away a good start Warner...because now the whole ****ing innings falls apart. Aussies could now easily be 5-200 at tea.

Haha the fielding has been so bad the commentator just called that misfield a "half stop" :D

    Batting Average by position

One interesting question is how do you compare the worth of averages based on batting position...eg. is an average of 45 as an opener worth the same as 50 from a guy batting five? It is unquestionaly more difficult to bat against the new ball than to come in at 5 so what weighting is given to...

Bad timing for Wade to be injured. Haddin has been in great form and averages 46 with the bat over his 2 Ashes series so if he is solid here Wade could be on the sidelines for a while. Might not be the worst thing for Wade. The kid has massive talent with the bat but obviously needs to work on...

Last Man Standing: 2013 AFL Season

I'm a big footy fan but just can't bring myself to watch it prior to round 1. The standard is just crap and there's nothing on the line.

Haha yeah more often than not that is a back-handed compliment.

What, exactly, is the difference between a $70 bat and a $700 one?

I've always wondered how much further I could hit the ball if I was using an international batsman's blade...reckon the ball would surely go 10-15% further than my $300 bat.
