Top 5 bowling attacks - All Time

nice to see ya eddie...great work with the articles and website. Wasim, Waqar and Mushtaq is more likely, since Qadir, Waqar and Imran only played for a few matches when Qadir and even Imran was past their prime. Donald and Pollock was pretty useful too. Lillee, Thomson, Alderman, Hogg were...

"Explore the Indian side of Punjab"– Imran on fast bowling...or its absence in India

aggressive attitude in this context implies that the bowler will take it personally if is hit for a four or six and will not take it down lying down, but will come back with a faster more aggressive delivery. In this context we are not talking about agression in a way that the guy will punch you...

"Explore the Indian side of Punjab"– Imran on fast bowling...or its absence in India

Its been a long time since I have contributed to CW or even logged in. I just came in to see comments about Ind/Pak series, and the silly post from C_C caught my attention. Its a bit funny how you are getting worked up about Imran's comments. Secondly the North American analogy is pointless and...

Top five Slippers (slip fielders) you've seen..

Hick is the safest slip fielder I have seen. M Waugh too I guess.

    Laxman or Azhar?

Personally its Azhar for me. That memorable innings in Calcutta, against England is probably the most dominating display of batting I have ever seen by anyone. And to give you an idea, Sachin playing alongside Azhar looked like a schoolboy just beginning to learn the trade from the master. The...

    Martin Crowe

Martin Crowe is the most techincally solid batsman I have ever seen. I remember seeing him against Wasim at his peak, when all the other NZ batsmen had no clue but he had no problems. Similarly with Waqar on a tour to Pakistan, he was completely at ease, and bowlers almost wanted to get him to...

    Gutsiest Bowling

Abdul Qadir once bowled with a cast on his left arm, and got 9 for in an innings against England (1987). I am not totally sure about the two happening the same match, but I remember for sure that he bowled a long spell with a broken hand, and also got 9 for against England. Please correct me...

    Dissapointed With Indian Suppoters

The reason why I love watching Eden Gardfen matches is becasue of the passion of the crowd. Obviously they care about their team and want them to win, and dont like it when India loses. Karachi crowd have always been similar for the last 20 years I have been watching cricket, but maybe it was...

    Greatest Fast Bowler Ever

Add Roberts, Croft, Bishop and Clarke to that list too and minus Walsh perhaps. Man those WI lineups (70s/80s) of which I have seen some myself, were 10 times more intimidating than anything after it, and perhaps the most intimidating ever (in those days aussies boasted quite a fearsome fast...

    The Ultimate Bowler

andy roberts played for west indies in the 70s and 80s Wasim akram was pretty good at intimidating as well merv hughes I would not put in that category, since he could not abck it up with fearsome bowling, I remember him trying to intimidate azharuddin in australia and then went onto bowl...

Players Who You Predicted Would Be Great................

yeah Viv was just spectacular, I think Imran once narrated, that Viv once came on the front foot a little too early to a ball that was short of length. The pace was fast, and he did not have the time to go back on the back foot, so using his sharp eye, he went on to pull the ball for a six over...

    The Ultimate Bowler

holding's run up for sure I agree should have been metioned earlier mcgrath's consistency holding's action robert's intimidation lillee's leg cutter seam hadlee/alderman's outswing imran's inswing waqar's follow through thomson's pace garner's accuracy BTW, I like the comment Kallis'...

    Bradman

Wayne Gretzky in hockey has dominated the sport in a somewhat similar way as Bradman did in cricket. Sergei Bubka (sp?) , or edwan moses, or Jahangir Khan but they were all in individual sports, which is not the same thing as team sports. A good way to judge this is if that person's domination...

    Richie Benauds All Time Team

"Pakistani bias"....maybe but most people that have seen Imran in his prime would agree with me. I agree with the opinion that Botham only has the edge in fielding, which is ofcourse a no-contest, since Imran was one of the worst fielders I have ever seen. As far as batting is concerned...

    Wicketkeepers who bowl

in early eighties, when aus was visiting pak, on a faisalabad (?) flat pitch, Greag Chappel just wouldnt get out, and pak captain Miandad, had all 11 players bowl in hope of getting lucky, I think Miandad himself kept wickets, while the keeper tasleem arif bowled.

    Richie Benauds All Time Team

Swervy: "I personally would have had Botham in ahead of Imran...butI see your point, the batting is already very strong so it wouldnt have harmed anyone to have had a Hadlee or Marshall in there (probably would have had Hadlee in there)...but I dont really have any quibbles with Benauds team"...

    Richie Benauds All Time Team

if you get a chanCe watch footage of 1982 India/Pak series in Pakistan. I dont think a Pak fast bowler has ever bowled better than that in a series (considering pitch quality and batting lineup).

    Greatest Ever West Indies Bowler?

Its amazing how many great fast bowlers WI have produced, Holding, Roberts, Garner, Ambrose, Hall, Marshall are all number one in my opinion, very difficult to choose between them. Even bowlers like Croft, Clark, Walsh are pretty damn good.
