We really, really need an actual probing spell from Southee here too. He's been a passenger for the last year and it really is time for him to stand up.

On the pitch last week, I would say this is plenty but on this, with only ~2.5 bowlers, I don't think it's enough.

Ha, there was a very easy 2 on offer if he'd just knocked it onto the onside. But Kuggeleijn doesn't know the idea of restraint...

Hmm, I wonder how Southee will play here 🤔

I don't think this is quite the traditional seamy road, but I think it is a new ball wicket. There's a bit of variable bounce and some seam for Cummins, this ball is 22 overs old so you'd still expect that and Cummins could seam a tennis ball, but I feel the new ball spells will be absolutely...

Bugger. We're now into tailenders hopefully swinging their way to another 50 runs. Could be all over in 2 overs, could be a quick 30 for Henry and co

Finally able to actually watch today and realised we're only 5 minutes from tea. I hope I'm not a curse

Don't know why they're trying to bounce SP out here, if they just bowl length he'll send one straight up

Back level at only one down is an excellent start. Long way to go though

Danger time for Latham here as he is well established and ticks past 100 balls faced

A decent session for our lot there, but to state the bleeding obvious still a long way behind the game and these two need to bat the next session. Pitch looks like it will flatten out so there are runs to be had tomorrow, but we've got to get there intact

Feel a 50 run lead would have been a great result and given us a decent chance here but 90 is way too much. Can easily see a collapse for 120. Hmm, Young gone. A touch unlucky in that Starc has been all over the place here and then he nicks one of the few good ones.

We've been very lackadaisical since the Carey wicket. This partnership has got to 30 odd while barely breaking a sweat. OMG Phillips you hero

Would prefer Sears coming around the wicket to Starc here, feel he's a bit comfortable playing that push into covers from over

Even allowing for the comedy factor of that wicket, that has spun and bounced a lot. Obvious questions once again about our selection, plus Lyon going to be difficult second innings

Nice start from Sears, first couple of balls looked a bit sluggish but picked up the pace as the over went on. Last one slipped well wide but tbh to Carey there's every chance he goes chasing that loosely

I'm genuinely amazed Southee didn't review that

The gap between Henry and the rest of our attack at the moment is the Grand Canyon. He's hitting the pitch hard, in good areas consistently, nipping them in either direction. The others just looking so pedestrian (Sears obv yet to bowl this morning, hope he can back up from a decent spell...
